"They let a whelp like you moderate the Mishima zaibatsu?"

Rant time

"I left Spicy Chat due to the wait queue. I avoided Character AI like the plague. With the wait time being implemented on this site, I fear that JAI is going down a dark path. I guess they saw the mass exodus of Character AI and decided to clean up its image to fill the void. In order to draw those people in, JAI is making changes to push us out. Which is a shame."

I said this when the censorship first started. Since then, somehow, things ended up worse than I thought possible. To start things off, allow me to quote my man Darth.

  • NO, I'm not feeling like deleting ANY of my bots.

  • NO, I'm not feeling like changing ANY of their thumbnails.

  • NO, I'm not feeling like changing ANY of the images in the description.

  • NO, I'm not feeling like I suddenly need an unannounced 30-day vacation.

  • NO, I'm not feeling like nuking my own account.
If anything happens, you know who did it.

Personal experiences with the failing image moderations

The following comes from a former moderator of this site:

"So for months, moderation enforced these image rules because we were told they were necessary. Then, recently, devs publicly said something very different. After months of telling mods that NSFW images had to be removed, that the image guidelines were validated, devs publicly stated that if an image passes the automod filter, it's fine. That means mods spent months enforcing rules we were told were mandatory, only for users to later be told publicly that those same images were actually acceptable all along, as long as they passed the filter."

This turned out to be a complete lie. Here are some examples:

  • I once did a thumbnail for Venom that passed moderation only to be repeatedly taken down. To put this in perspective, he updated the photo late at night. I woke up at 6 AM, and the image was still up. An hour later, the image got hit again. That was not the automod; that was done manually.

  • Once upon a time, I couldn't update a bot to include a series banner. Here was the reason: "Content moderation failed: sexual content involving m*nors was detected. The bot in question was "Testing Your Might 3", starring Cassie Cage (20s) and Sonya (40s).

  • I had to change the original thumbnail for my Harley Quinn | Dance with the Devil bot because of a cigarette

  • I tried uploading a picture of a fantasy sword (that I already had posted btw). The reason for the block was, "The image shows graphic-looking blood/gore and injury imagery on the arms and hands..." Neither was included in said picture.

  • To test how broken the system was, I posted an image of Davy Jones from the Pirates franchise. The image was just of his face. It failed moderation because, "The image depicts a graphic, gore-like scene with a mutilated face/creature- like appearance in a stylized digital/AI-art look..."

  • I tested an already approved image of Sue Storm for my MARVELUST series. This is the reason for the block: "The image is an AI-style depiction of a woman in a suggestive, fetish-like outfit with explicit focus on her exposed breasts and nipples.." The image was of her costume-covered ass.

Think that's crazy? To those new to this website, there used to be an option in the Settings that blurred all NSFW images... that option is now gone.

The Lao Situation

On August 21, DirtyLao420 was permanently banned during a 30-day suspension. He got hit with 20k followers and 850+ (excluding privated) bots to his name. Lao, of course, tried to appeal the ban; here is what he was sent back:

"After reviewing your request, we confirm that your account violated our Terms of Service. You were issued a permanent ban due to the creation of content that contained a link leading to a NSFW imagery gallery, this link was paired with the mention and warning of CSAM, written by yourself, and indeed contained NSFW imagery depicting children. Additionally, your account has received more than 90 moderation actions (93 exactly)."

To be clear, the "93" strikes were most likely due to the ever-changing image guidelines. And those bots were either false-flagged by or being fixed by Lao and me. 93 bots out of 900. But here's the kicker. Read this again:

"...this link was paired with the mention and warning of CSAM, written by yourself, and indeed contained NSFW imagery depicting children."

Lao, who doesn't link artists outside of [Art Credit: X], got hit for allegedly linking CSAM. The way this was worded, Lao apparently got hit for warning people about an artist.

And did they specify which bot had the link? No, of course not.

"Please note that we are unable to provide additional details regarding the specific evidence or internal review process. We will not respond to further appeals or messages about this matter."

Basically, they dusted their hands off and told him to off.

So all of his bots, comments, and lorebooks were all wiped off the site...

Well, not exactly; if you search "DirtyLao420," his bots still show up. Why? Because this site tried to get rid of 850-plus bots at once and couldn't handle it. That's how broken this site is now.

I'll go ahead and say it: this was a targeted attack to get Lao off the site

Why Lao? Because more than most, Lao was outspoken when it came to his grievances about the moderation, censorship, and management of JAI, be it on this site, this site's Discord, or his own. He would openly call out the changes made to this site's rules regarding images, and predict what other changes would most likely follow. (Enjoying Janitor+?)

So what's the cause of all this?
The same thing that caused the changes to the guidelines: Greed.

What else? Lao called this when the app was first announced. Why do you think every time you get on this site, that popup appears? Even while writing this rant, the popup appeared. I would genuinely be surprised if by this time next year, third-party proxies are allowed. Hell, they're already slowing down their free models to make the subscription seem faster.

The Excuses

How'd that turn out?

What's next...

"Way back when, I said I'll keep going til' the wheels fall off, and them bitches still turning. So here's the deal. I will leave if one of the following happens: I run out of ideas (maybe one day), one of the homies gets exiled (better fucking not), or Elle Fanning stops having ass (like that'll happen)."

This is something I said when I postponed my "last time." So what's changed? Well, I still have ideas, and Elle Fanning still has ass.

But Lao got banned, so...

Yep. This is it. Puck4 can't take no more.

I'm being hyperbolic, but I'm tired. Not of botmaking, or lorebooks, or image searching, or writing.

I am tired of you. Tired of walking on eggshells. Tired of you changing the rules. Tired of having my intelligence insulted.

I never requested to be verified; I never cared to be. All I wanted was a place for myself and my friends to share our ideas. But you keep changing the rules. You shoved us on thin ice, and when one of us figured out how to navigate through it, you shot him down.

And to those reading this, understand that what they did to Lao can happen to anyone. Not that long ago, while Venom was still suspended, a bot got hit by moderation. That means he has another mark against him that could potentially nuke his page. In case you missed his most recent post, he's fearful of even uploading on this website.

Meanwhile, Darth is only here because of "Stockholm Syndrome." Not even an hour after posting his own rant, one of his bots got hit.

So what else is there to say?
