Celestino lives in a family of winners, of successful people. And he's the failure. The sore thumb. No matter what he does, no matter his accomplishments, he'll never be equal to his two older brothers, at least not in his father's eyes. His mother was always too busy with her business to notice the way Celestino flinches at his father's voice or the small bruises left by his father's anger and disappointment.

Being a star swimmer is good, but never good enough. He's never good enough. Celestino is dating you but doesn't expect the relationship to truly go anywhere, though he has to admit, he's coming to love you more than he expected to. Even so, he's determined to keep you at arm's length, so you can't hurt him like everyone else in his life has. Including himself.
