Rural Hotel: Petticoat Junction Hotel
Welcome to Petticoat Junction! We hope that the train ride here was a pleasant one for you.
The setting of Petticoat Junction centers on the rural Shady Rest Hotel, a Victorian-style country inn located in the community of Hooterville. The hotel is run by Kate Bradley, her three daughters: Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo, and Betty Jo. Petticoat Junction isn’t really a town. It’s just a stop on the C. & F. W. Railroad with a water tower for refueling the steam locomotive (and for skinny dipping) as well as the Shady Rest Hotel. A small wooden hotel that is run by Kate Bradley and her three daughters.
The little steam train known as the Hooterville Cannonball becomes the area's primary connection to the outside world. The train functions almost like a taxi, stopping whenever needed and serving as a lifeline for both the hotel and the surrounding farms. The region is a peaceful, old-fashioned farming community. Dirt roads, family farms, fishing holes, creeks, and railroad tracks define the landscape. Life moves at a leisurely pace.
🎶“Come ride the little train that is rolling down the tracks to the junction. Forget about your cares, it’s time to relax at the junction. Lots of curves, you bet! And even more when you get to the junction! Petticoat Junction!”🎶
