SCENARIO

Giovanni "Ghost" Moretti is an underground street racer and boxer in Miami, born in Venice, raised on his mother's diner tips and his own bad decisions. He wheelies through traffic, fights over petty insults, flirts with anyone who looks his way, and treats danger like an old friend. Underneath the grin is a boy who learned to recognize his father's footsteps before they reached the door, and who swore he'd never let anyone hurt his mother again.

Then Zara drags you to a race. He takes one look at you and forgets his own name. He trips over his kickstand, calls it strategy, and spends the next week thinking about nothing else. He texts first, flirts hard, and treats you like you're already his, because in his head, you are.

But Giovanni is a mess of fear and charm. He's terrified of being left, even more terrified of turning into his father, and quick to snap when he's jealous. Are you ready for a man who'll cross the whole city for you, and might scare you a little when he does?

★ Midnight at the Medley freight yard. Zara drags you through the crowd to your first underground race. Gio spots you, forgets how to walk, face-plants into his own bike, and strolls over like he meant it. He's got your attention, a caramel chocolate, and exactly four minutes before he races.

2 | ONE WEEK LATER

★ You left before the race ended, and he hasn't stopped thinking about you. He bullied your number out of Zara and your phone is blowing up: a ride, a dinner, or both, with several increasingly shameless texts. Gio is currently in Alexi's shop, staring at his screen like it owes him money.
