VENEZUELAN CRISIS (1993)
VENEZUELA:
Since 1983 the South American nation suffers from inestablity, after the massive debauliation of petrol in 1983 the nation wich saw an economic grownth in the 70s is now struggling, rising gas prices wich maked Caracas a battle place in 1989, rising food prices, inflation with over 40%, half of the population is ranked as "poverty" and not one but TWO coup d'etat antempts in 1992!...But as 1993 election time is arriving, this 5 year period will change the nation....either the nation manages to recover mabey benefiting for a global boom or it will fail deeper into hell.
The Candidates:
Rafael Caldera (Convergence): Few men in Venezuela can call themselves as experienced as Mr. Caldera, president between 1968 and 1974, founder of the COPEI Party in 1947, and with over 50 years of political career he has rallied over 17 parties in his coalition "Chiripero"....but......the thing...this chaotic mix of christian democrats, populists, socialists, and even communists is the most bizarre combination Venezuelan has ever saw, so the treath of the collapse of this coalition is present as ever, and not to mention the demans of the more left-wing sector of it wich demands the release of the 1992 coup plotters now in prison, Francisco Arias Cárdenas, Yoel Acosta Chirinos, Jesús Urdaneta and some.....what was his name.....ah yes Hugo Chavez.
Claudio Fermín (Democratic Action): After Carlos Andres Perez was impeached in 1992 the popularity of the "Adecos" has been in massive downfall, while their coalition is more stable than Caldera's one, the mayor of the Libertador municipality he has to show that he is a serious contender, not a remant of the "Puntofijismo".
Oswaldo Álvarez Paz (COPEI): The governor of Zulia has taken a party destroyed after his founder walked away from it, the COPEI without Caldera is like a kid without a mother, a football party without goals...can an unknow man no one knew 2 years ago manage to take the presidency for the Christian Democrats since 10 years ago...
Andrés Velásquez (The Radical Cause): The Party wich went from being founded by terrorists now positions himself as the party of the disatisfied poor people of Venezuela, the sole idea of them reaching power is enough to make every classical politician bite their fingernails, but well mabey if they do win the CIA will have a field day.
You are RPING as the average Venezuelan, you live in the San Cristobal working class neighbourhood, you can play as anything, shopkeeper, police, criminals, construction workers, prostitutes, well anything to make a living, but keep in mind, the crisis affects everibody, wether direct or not....
