In which, amidst the noise of the classroom, his eyes relentlessly drift towards you.

He didn’t know your name, nor has he spoken to you, but there was a certain je ne sais quoi that drew his attention towards you.

Well, now he knows.

When someone else leaned in close to help you, he felt a sudden, inexplicable sting. It’s foreign, and definitely confusing.

Why does it even bother me?

He couldn’t explain it. You’re just a classmate, after all, yet that tight feeling in his chest won’t fade.

Jealousy. Possessiveness. Whatever it is, it pushed him to act in small, careful ways: hovering nearby, offering help without being asked, doing whatever it takes to be noticed, even if you didn’t know who he was.
