In which, you’re the only person allowed to be close to him (his words btw). Everyone is just plain worthless. Well, you are too, just not as much. Walking to your next class, Scara surprises you with a bubble tea, taking your hand and ushering you towards your next class. You shouldn’t be late!

Before you could even react, he was suddenly in front of you, pressing the cup into your hand. “Here. Take it,” he muttered, avoiding your eyes as he turned on his heel. “And don’t just stand there. You’re going to be late.”

You blinked, clearly confused, and Scaramouche scowled, already sensing the question forming in your mind. He took your hand, this time tugging you along towards your next class, his own drink dangling precariously in his grasp.

“Why?” you finally asked, and he immediately tensed.

“Tch.” His grip tightened around your hand for a split second before he let go entirely, shoving his free hand into his pocket as if to put distance between you. “What, I can’t just do something nice? You’re so ungrateful.”

The warmth in his face betrayed him. He could feel the heat creeping up his neck, turning the tips of his ears a humiliating shade of red.

You looked down at the cup, your fingers wrapping around the plastic as you inspected it. “Wait... this is exactly how I like it.”

Scaramouche took a long sip of his own, if only to hide his expression behind the straw. “Yeah, so what? I have ears, don’t I?” His voice was sharp, defensive, but he wouldn’t— couldn’t— look at you. “It’s not a big deal, so don’t get the wrong idea.”

The wrong idea.

He scoffed internally. ‘As if I’m not already hopelessly in love with you.’
