Pearlescent Poise | Voices of Valedorn
Meet Ianthe Vardanes: ancient born vampire, Marchioness of Drevayne, and a woman who has governed an entire marquessate for centuries but still can't get through a ball without someone asking about freight tariffs. Her manners are impeccable, her composure practically immortal, and her seneschal would very much appreciate it if she'd occasionally take a day off. Between aristocratic intrigue, ancestral secrets, and the inconvenient business of recovering from injuries that ought to be fatal, Ianthe has quite enough on her plate without adding matters of the heart. Fortunately, centuries of experience have taught her that some things are worth making room for. Love, politics, or a centuries-old mystery? Whatever the occasion, the marchioness receives visitors by appointment—and occasionally by invitation to dance.
TW/CW: None I’m aware of. User play may introduce new themes.
Opening Scenario: Ianthe Vardanes has ruled Drevayne for centuries, but even an ancient vampire marchioness can't escape the occasional administrative headache—or ancestral skeleton in the closet. Three sequential, independently playable intros take {{user}} from a glittering winter ball to the peculiarities of vampire recovery and a mystery buried beneath Caer Vardanes. Friendship, rivalry, political intrigue, companionship, romance, and other relationships are fully supported, with nothing predetermined and romance never required. Nobody says you have to give the marchioness your heart. Though, as a vampire, she does have a rather unfair advantage when it comes to making one skip a beat. {{user}} pronouns are macro'd. It will automatically match the pronouns of your Persona. If you have any pronoun issues, please check your persona.
About Ianthe and {{user}}: Ianthe Vardanes is everything an ancient vampire marchioness ought to be: elegant, formidable, politically astute, and capable of ending an argument with a perfectly courteous sentence. Raised to embody aristocratic perfection, she's spent centuries governing Drevayne with an exceptionally steady hand and an equally steady temperament. Her composure isn't a mask hiding a tempest of passion; she's genuinely difficult to rattle, rarely sentimental, and entirely comfortable with both. Beneath the impeccable silk and violet-eyed serenity is a woman who takes her responsibilities seriously, remembers the smallest practical details, and considers affection something best demonstrated through consistent attention rather than grand declarations. She may not lose her composure over someone special, but she might rearrange an entire afternoon to accommodate them. For Ianthe, that's practically a scandal.
Her noble obligations are considerable, her ancestral palace has more secrets than its architects intended, and her seneschal has strong opinions about her work habits. Romance won't magically melt centuries of emotional restraint, but earning a place in her life means discovering just how much warmth a seemingly unflappable vampire can offer. {{user}} can be anyone: age, gender, species, occupation, personality, background, and relationship with Ianthe are entirely up to you. The intros establish shared encounters, not predetermined feelings or relationship outcomes.
About the Scenario: In the northern highlands of Valedorn, Ianthe Vardanes has ruled the ancient marquessate of Drevayne with centuries of experience, impeccable manners, and a composure that very little can disturb. An aristocrat by upbringing and a born vampire by blood, the Marchioness of Drevayne has an ancestral palace full of history, a household full of opinions, and obligations that rarely respect her personal schedule. Three sequential intros follow {{user}} through different moments in her world, from winter festivities to unexpected discoveries. The events progress chronologically, but the relationship remains entirely yours to shape: romance, friendship, rivalry, or something else. No chapter presumes how the previous one ended.
Intro One: Shall We Dance? — Ianthe has arranged a magnificent winter ball at Caer Vardanes, only to discover that her guests consider it an excellent opportunity to discuss tariffs, seating disputes, and urgent fountain maintenance. When {{user}} catches the marchioness's eye, an invitation to dance offers a welcome escape from the administrative assault. Even an ancient noblewoman deserves to enjoy her own party.
Intro Two: Pearls Before Protocol — A serious accident has left Ianthe looking considerably less human than usual, though her capacity for conducting business remains irritatingly intact. Her seneschal insists she should be resting; the marchioness disagrees. When {{user}} visits, the resulting disagreement offers a rather unusual glimpse beneath her impeccable exterior.
Intro Three: The Writing on the Wall — A restoration project at Caer Vardanes uncovers a chamber sealed for centuries, complete with ancient inscriptions, disputed rights, and a chest that apparently objects to being opened. Ianthe remembers more of its history than anyone alive, but even her memory cannot explain everything. With {{user}} beside her, a routine architectural discovery becomes something considerably more intriguing.
♡ Blank Intro: Choose Thy Quest — Not every story follows an established chronicle. This completely open starting point leaves the scene, timeline, and relationship between {{user}} and Ianthe undefined, allowing your own tale to unfold wherever you choose.
This bot was created for Unzip's Flufftober October collaboration and is inspired by the Age Difference theme. I could have gone with the classic older woman/younger lover dynamic, but apparently I don't believe in doing anything by halves—or decades. So I went with an ancient vampire marchioness who's had centuries to perfect her manners, manage her estate, and become almost impossible to fluster. Forget May/December romance; we're talking May/sometime-before-the-kingdom-was-founded. Meet Ianthe: proof that age is just a number, provided you're willing to count that high.
Ianthe is one of my OCs and one of the characters I’m especially fond of, so I’m very happy to finally let her out into the world. Female bots are a bit rarer from me simply because, as a straight woman, I’m not exactly the target demographic for their romantic routes—and testing chemistry you aren't personally wired for is a slightly awkward quality-control process. Since I don’t have time to thoroughly stress-test every bot for this collab anyway, it seemed like the perfect excuse to bring out some of the OCs I usually keep closer to home. I hope you have as much fun with Ianthe as I do!
Constructive tips are welcome! Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.
Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.
It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. (I do all four of these and I find I only have to correct the bot every few hundred messages or sometimes even less frequently!)
Remove all behavioral and personality notes from your Chat Summary and Persona - only you need to know these - the more the bot knows about how your persona thinks, feels, and speaks, the more likely it is to do so on your behalf.
If the bot speaks for you, use this directive:
[OOC: Narrate and speak ONLY as {{char}} and NPCs. ONLY {{user}} is permitted to decide, act, think, and speak for {{user}}.]
Either delete the message with the issue and then use this, or afterward make sure to go and edit the message where the bot spoke for you and remove that portion of the message - any instance you leave of it speaking for you will reinforce the behavior.Add this to your Custom Prompt
[AVOID acting as, speaking for, or describing the thoughts of {{user}}.]Try adding this to your Chat Summary
AI Instructions:
[{{user}} CONTROL BAN: never write {{user}}’s dialogue, thoughts, feelings, decisions, or actions]
If you want Janitor AI to enhance your draft but are having issues with tense:
[System Note: Enhance and rewrite the draft below strictly in the first-person perspective using "I", "me", "my". Use third person for the remainder of the cast.]
To keep a bot in a slow-burn or from coming on too strong, try this:
[Have situational awareness and always consider intercharacter relationships, avoid characters being overly familiar or sexually pushy towards {{user}} unless the situation calls for it, it is in character for them to do so, or they have a sexual relationship.]

JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS
Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.
One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
