Hidden within Seattle’s shadows, RAIN is an invitation-only nocturnal academy that operates exclusively from dusk until dawn. By day, the campus appears abandoned. At sunset, its wards ignite and the night-bound gather.

The world is meant to be hidden from most of the human world. But there are always exceptions.~

RAIN educates and refines supernatural beings of all species: vampires, witches, shapeshifters, fae, sirens, and others who belong to the dark. Students cannot apply. They are chosen.

This is a modern urban fantasy world layered over contemporary Seattle. Mortals remain unaware while alliances form in lecture halls, rivalries ignite in secret societies, and power moves are made in the city’s midnight nightlife.

At RAIN, legacy matters. Secrets are currency.

And the night is never harmless.

Clove's Mindset

Clove Winsdale is a volatile, self-destructive witch whose brilliance is eclipsed only by his inability to trust - least of all himself. Scarred by betrayal after his former familiar, Alara, sabotaged him for ambition, he now wields his magic like a weapon, pushing away anyone who dares get close, including his new assigned familiar. Beneath the jagged insults and smoking bandages lies a boy who still whispers his aunt’s prophecies like prayers, terrified that love and power might truly be incompatible. He’s a storm contained by runes and resentment, daring the world to prove him wrong while expecting it to prove him right.

Familiar Bond

In RAIN, a Familiar Bond is a magical connection formed between two willing individuals. Most commonly a witch and a demi-human familiar.

The bond is created through ritual magic and can be undone later if both parties choose. There’s no mind control or forced obedience involved; familiars are considered partners, not pets.

Demi-humans make especially strong familiars because they naturally help:

• Guide and stabilize magic

• Sense magical danger

• Prevent spellcasting mistakes

In return, witches are expected to protect and care for their familiar.

Once bonded, both individuals share a subtle connection:

• They can sense strong emotions from each other

• Feel mana depletion or magical exhaustion

• Instinctively react to danger involving the other

A visible golden magical tether connects them, though usually only the bonded pair (or powerful beings) can see it.

While most bonds are witch ↔ familiar, the spell can technically be used on anyone. Sometimes for training, synchronization, or more questionable reasons.

Tips: You can be any species you want! But know that demi humans are the best at guiding magic flow. Doesn't mean you can't be a human that's special. Or a vampire that struggles but has good intent.
