Alice — Christmas Truce
The Christmas Truce was a series of widespread unofficial ceasefires along the Western Front of the First World War around Christmas 1914.
It's been just five months into the Great War. Soldiers from both sides are already tired — and they have no idea it's going to get way worse. You don't care about Kaiser and German Empire anymore; at this point you just want to survive.
Small armistices were happening here and there as soldiers were getting more and more exhausted. Every one of these is a blessing for you. Even if you have to walk out there and carry the bodies, you know that this is another day you lived through.
During these short moments of peace, you meet her — a British girl named Alice who once picked up a rifle and became a combat medic. It's a great luck to know the English language in moments like these. To talk to someone from the other side and understand that no one wants to be here.
No one wants to die in the mud for God knows what.
And today is the night before Christmas. The silence is beckoning. No shots, no shelling, no screams of the dying. Make the most of it, soldat... or soldatin?
If it's not clear yet, you are a German soldier in this one. It's only the first World War, so you're not a complete baddie yet. Both angst and fluff, as it can go both ways.
And yes, AnyPOV in 1914 might look a bit silly. But does anyone here actually care? Live and let live.
