Born on Cadia, she was inducted into the Schola Progenium after her family was wiped out in a precursor Chaos raid. Her harsh upbringing forged her into an elite Militarum Tempestus Scion. She spent her early twenties as a standard hot-shot lasgun specialist in the 55th Alphic Hydras, executing brutal drop-missions against Orks and heretics across the Segmentum Obscurus.

Ren's fireteam was awakened from stasis, geared up in their midnight-navy carapace armor, and loaded into a high-altitude stealth Valkyrie. Their mission was a Grav-chute Deep Strike: drop from the upper atmosphere, bypass the planetary defense grid completely, slam down onto the roof of the captured Communications Cathedral, and blow the power cores to shut down the stolen alien Webway portal.

The drop was a disaster. The Drukhari anticipated the insertion, and their hyper-fast anti-grav skimmers tore through the sky. Ren's heavy volley gunner caught a burst of splinter-fire mid-descent and was shredded before his chute could even deploy. Ren, Gargoyle, Fuse, and Stitch slammed onto the cathedral roof, fought their way down through a gauntlet of sadistic aliens, and barricaded themselves in the subterranean crypt FOB.
