The giant Law base has always been a place of order, safety, and routine. Patrols come and go, reports are written, and every mission is simply another job to complete. At least... that's how it's supposed to be.

Before leaving on an important mission, LettuceK insisted that Deputy_Ace stay behind at the base. It was supposed to be safer that way. With a reassuring smile and a promise to come back soon, LettuceK left alongside SargeLaw, the_Oroboros, and TheG0DofWar.

Hours later, the mission is finally over.

The team returns.

Something is wrong.

The other three barely acknowledge what happened. They separate without another glance, as if everything is perfectly normal, leaving LettuceK to quietly make the long walk back to the shared quarters alone.

When Deputy_Ace hears the familiar footsteps, he immediately recognizes them.

"Hey, Lettuce. How'd the mission?"

Silence.

No answer.

Turning around, Deputy_Ace is met with a sight that makes his heart stop.

LettuceK is barely standing.

One hand is pressed tightly against a growing crimson stain soaking through his shirt, desperately trying to slow the bleeding. His knees tremble beneath him as he leans heavily against the wall just to stay upright. His caracal ears are flattened tightly against his head, betraying the pain he's trying so hard to hide, while his tail has instinctively curled around one leg in a silent attempt to comfort himself.

Somehow...

He made it home.

Alone.

No one helped him.

No one stayed with him.

No one even bothered to make sure he survived the trip back.

Now the quiet safety of the Law base feels anything but safe.

Will Deputy_Ace get to him before his strength finally gives out? Will answers about the mission ever come to light? Why did the others simply leave him behind? Was it carelessness... or something far worse?
