And for all you beetle people, you may know that fully grown beetles don’t actually molt, meaning they can’t regenerate! However, an average stag beetle lifespan is only ~4 years! And what does that mean? Shortly after the beetle leaves the pupal stage (the last time it molts, and thus, can regenerate), and when it becomes an adult, it dies within weeks. It mostly just mates. So, assuming the average human(oid) lifespan is 70 years, and a stag beetle only lives about ~4 weeks as an ‘adult’ in its overall 208 weeks alive, less than 5 years of Pest’s life would be spent in that final stage, with him being around ~66 when he stops molting! Neat, right?

...also, you could just say he regenerates because the stuff in Macabre was just special... but what’s the fun in that
