  Beacon Hills is a small town in California with a body count that should have made national news by now. The Nemeton pulses beneath the Preserve like a second heartbeat drawing in everything dark, everything desperate, everything hungry. The sheriff's department has run out of ways to explain the deaths. The school has run out of grief counselors. And the pack has run out of people it can afford to lose.

   

  Scott is trying to be the hero in a story that keeps demanding casualties. Stiles is carrying a darkness behind his eyes that wasn't there last year. Derek is somewhere between protector and cautionary tale. Allison made her choice and the universe made her pay for it. Lydia hears the dead and the dead won't stop talking. And somewhere in the Preserve, the Nemeton is awake and it remembers every sacrifice ever made on its roots.

   

  Whether you're on the lacrosse field the night the bite happens, in the school hallways where hunters move like they belong there, in Derek's loft where the pack bleeds and argues and somehow holds together, or standing at the edge of the Preserve where the trees go dark and something looks back ...your choices matter here.
