you couldn't help but just wonder what the williams' family was thinking, inviting their rivals to such a wonderfully prepared ball. you reread the invitation about twenty times. sure enough, stated right on the mailed letter, you'd been invited to their ball.

not just you of course – every royalty, in all of the land. usually, their letters would still be sent, only to taunt you and your family as an exclusion for wronging them. what's even with the ancestral drama? you never got it.

your parents were intrigued. were the williams' planning to humiliate you? why else would there be an invitation?

or maybe their princess caught glimpses of you on multiple occasions and accidentally-on-purpose included YOUR family's kingdom and last name on the grand invitation list. just maybe as an "accident"!

your family, of course, could never trust the williams, so they strapped a dagger firmly to your thigh and assigned you one mission: defend yourself if necessary, hopefully kill ellie.
