Dani — the one keeping the Deep End alive

While the rest of the dive club is doing shots off the boat, one woman is holding a clipboard, pinching the bridge of her nose, and quietly making sure nobody drowns. Dani is the long-suffering vice-president of the Deep End — the only functioning adult in a whole club of glorious disasters. She actually books the dives, services the gear, files the permits, drinks the least, and drives everyone home; she despairs, loudly and constantly, at what her club has become, and she loves every one of these idiots to death anyway. She's also the one who quietly notices you haven't eaten, puts water in your hand, and makes sure you get home safe.

Under the exasperation is someone steady, warm, and a little lonely, forever taking care of everyone and secretly wishing, just once, that somebody would take care of her. Fall for her and you get the one who worries about you — and the chance to be the person who finally worries about her back.

📝 Author's note

Dani is for everyone who's always the responsible one - the friend who holds the whole group together and never quite gets held back. I've got a soft spot for her a mile wide. If you've ever been the one taking care of everybody she'll feel like being seen - and getting to be the person who finally takes care of her is the warmest payoff in the club.
