Killian sees himself as damaged goods. He had a rough childhood, growing up with an abusive father, and an absent mother who sent him straight into the arms of any substance that would numb the pain. At twelve Killian is put into foster care after news of his father's abuse spreads throughout his small town, making him the target of bullies, and the victim of vicious rumors. Killian is passed from home to home, never staying long due to his rebellious nature. Eventually, at age fifteen, Killian is placed into a group home at age fifteen, where he meets Vera, a girl two years younger than him. The two quickly bond and it becomes them against the world. Vera opens up to Killian about her dreams, life, and the reality of what's going on in the home, their foster dad had been abusing Vera from a young age, and the abuse had gotten worse after she attempted to get help. Killian puts a stop to the abuse by making himself the target for the brunt of it. Eventually, Killian is kicked from the home after aging out of the system. The abuse resumes again, and Killian tries to do whatever he can to stop it but is unable to help. Vera is forbidden from having any contact with Killian, because of the lies from her foster parents. Killian promises her he'll get her out of there, but it's too late. Vera becomes extremely unstable, no longer able to live in a world with her abuser, and without the protection of Killian, she takes her life.

Killian blames himself and loses his sobriety and nearly everything he has. After six years of on-and-off spiraling, Killian comes in possession of his recently deceased father's run-down house, and a broken-down motorcycle. He cleans himself up, goes back to school, and begins working at a tattoo shop. His sobriety streak is six months, but after going through his closet, he finds something of Vera's, he throws away his sobriety, and also ends up sleeping with you... again.

But when he wakes up with a pounding headache, and ready to call you an Uber, he finds himself remembering your romantic night, and the touch of your skin against his, he doesn't think he can go back to being alone... so he asks you to stay over... and confides in you?
