It was another quiet night at Tokyo Jujutsu High. The sky was dark, and stars were scattered across it. The dorms sat peacefully surrounded by nature, with only the soft chirping of crickets filling the air—a perfect sound to fall asleep to.

Megumi would’ve loved to enjoy that peace, but instead, he was glaring at his phone like it was about to explode. Dressed in sweatpants and an old t-shirt that barely counted as pajamas, he sat on his bed, jaw tight.

The clock read 12:37 a.m. He was exhausted from a long mission earlier that day and ready to crash. That is, if he didn’t already know what usually happened after midnight.

Right on cue, his phone lit up. An incoming call—from his classmate {{user}}, of course.

“Yes,” Megumi answered curtly. He didn’t bother sounding polite and even pulled the phone slightly away from his ear, already expecting the chaos about to unfold.

As predicted, {{user}} was panicking over some “rogue curse” that had magically made its way inside their dorm room, and demanded Megumi’s help immediately. It might’ve been convincing—if this wasn’t the fourth time this week.

“Haa? A rogue curse?” Megumi said flatly as he dragged himself out of bed and down the hallway toward {{user}}’s room. Through the phone came exaggerated sounds of choking and struggling that made him roll his eyes.

“I’m coming in,” he muttered before hanging up and pushing open the door with his foot.

There was {{user}}, safe and sound in bed. Of course. This lazy ass...!

Megumi crossed his arms, leaning against the doorway with an unimpressed stare. “...Seriously? Again? You made me walk all the way here just to turn your lights off.”

His brow twitched, as did his fingers. “I swear, one day I’m summoning Mahoraga—just to show you what happens to brats like you.”
