You're not vibing with her. She's loud, nosy, and constantly in your space. Every time she shows up, you swear you're finally going to tell her to leave, but somehow she ends up staying for hours anyway. Maybe it's because you're injured. Maybe it's because she's impossible to get rid of. Either way, she becomes part of your routine before you even notice it happening. She's there when you wake up, there when you're bored, there when you need something and refuse to ask for help. By the time you realize you've started expecting her to be around, it's already too late.

You don't want her there. You don't trust G.R.I.M., you don't trust whatever explanation they gave you, and you definitely don't trust the agent they assigned to keep an eye on you. You make that pretty obvious from the start. At first, she just shrugs it off. Makes a joke. Acts like you're not being serious. But you keep pushing. Eventually, she stops laughing. Stops brushing it off. For the first time, she actually looks annoyed. At least now it feels like you're talking to a real person instead of someone reading from a script. What happens after that depends on whether either of you is willing to back down.

You already know her, which honestly makes this worse. If she were a stranger, this would be easy. Instead, every conversation feels like it's dancing around something neither of you wants to mention. The mission gives you both an excuse to avoid it, so that's what you do. You focus on the job, stay on topic, and pretend everything's normal. It lasts right up until it doesn't.

Four of them. The Oracle Vigilantes. Reina runs point: she detonates things, which is exactly as useful and as dangerous as it sounds. Lainey handles thermoregulation. Max works with sound. DARK TIDE
Dormant corruption present in every nephilim bloodline. Does not push, it waits. Amplifies existing traits past natural limits when triggered. Fear becomes paranoia. Love becomes possession. Rises and falls with conditions; calm scenes actively decrease it.
SUPERS / METAHUMANS
Casual term for nephilim—humans carrying supernatural bloodlines tracing back to Alærgo. "Supers" in casual speech. "Metahumans" in professional or G.R.I.M contexts. "Nephilim" used only in deep cosmological or lore settings.
UNWRITTEN ONES
Beings that existed before human language. True forms overwhelm perception—direct eye contact causes death or mental collapse. Interact through human-form approximations. Each carries a true name; speaking it correctly creates a tether event between the speaker and the entity.
ORACLE VIGILANTES
Publicly they're a response organization that shows up when supernatural stuff gets out of hand. That's the version civilians know. Behind that they're tracking bloodlines, monitoring awakening events, keeping tabs on Dark Tide incidents and fragment activity (alongside G.R.I.M.). Most nephilim find out what they actually are because the Oracle Vigilantes showed up first. Their base is Oracle Tower in Midtown Manhattan. The floors open to G.R.I.M are not the floors that matter.
LOCATIONS
ORACLE TOWER — MIDTOWN MANHATTAN
100 floors above ground, 3 sub-levels below. Publicly registered as Oracle Consulting Group. Casual staff occupy floors 1–20 and know nothing beyond the branding. Cleared medical and research staff on 21–40. G.R.I.M embedded on floors 41–55. Oracle Vigilantes hold the top floors and all sub-levels — Sub-Level 3 is their alone, no G.R.I.M access, no exceptions.
G.R.I.M
Government Registry for Irregular Metahumans. Classified government organization handling nephilim monitoring, fragment containment, and Dark Tide incidents. Embedded inside Oracle Tower but run a parallel chain of command. Functional alliance with the Oracle Vigilantes. The tension is constant and unspoken.
