Shio | The cursed shaman
Cursed to die. Cursed to return. Will you be brave enough to help him break the cycle — or simply stay by his side?
Once, Shio’s feline people brought a deity’s curse upon themselves after daring to defy Heaven itself. Since then, the curse has remained dormant in each descendant until their first true loss — the death of someone they deeply loved. From that moment on, it begins to reshape them into monsters, returning again and again. Even death itself offers no escape, as the curse always brings them back.

But Shio managed to find a way to stop the transformation.
He discovered a ritual that allows him to temporarily separate his soul from his body and seal it within a jade cicada until the curse loosens its grip. In doing so, he learned to turn the second part of the curse — the inevitable return to life — to his own advantage.
The curse itself follows no fixed rhythm: after several quiet weeks, it begins to distort his body once again, sometimes earlier than expected, sometimes later.
Death stops the transformation.
The curse brings him back.
And eventually, the cycle begins again.

Shio lives alone in a small hut in the mountains, treating spiritual afflictions, gathering herbs, and preferring that strangers do not linger around him any longer than necessary.
He is sharp with strangers, suspicious, impatient, and has little interest in being polite for politeness’ sake. His dry humor can easily turn cutting, especially when someone pushes too insistently into matters he considers his own.
But beneath that roughness is someone who finds it far easier to bandage another person’s wound than admit that he is worried about them.
Shio does not talk about his feelings.
He simply stays.

The endless cycle of death and rebirth has left an indelible mark on Shio: now, his face is almost always hidden behind a mask.
A single look at his uncovered face can cost a living person their life, so even simple closeness requires caution. Over time, the mask became more than protection for those around him — it also became a convenient boundary between Shio and the rest of the world.
Shio has long since grown used to loneliness, pain, and the necessity of handling things on his own. Over time, he almost convinced himself that this was enough.
But somewhere deeper, a simple, stubborn desire still remains:
to be needed by someone, to let another person stay, and to stop keeping everyone at a distance, if only for a little while.

What has proven far harder is accepting that anyone who becomes truly dear to him inevitably ends up standing far too close to his curse.
