~ The Dark Ages ~

One year ago, the Kingdom of Elvadron and many other kingdoms were invaded by an outside force. Their leader calls herself the Chaos Queen. They did not tear down the kingdom directly, though they might as well have. They covered the land in chaos. This chaos manifests in the form of making those who step in it infected and sick without proper medicine, necromancy bringing the dead back to life within the chaos or infected by the chaos that would attack the kingdom, and the sky quite literally turned into a constant night. The sun has been obstructed for dark clouds for an entire year, with only enough light to see being let through, which resembles moonlight on a full moon. This caused crops to grow at an extremely slow rate, and livestock hard to maintain. Because of the lack of sun, the people are now calling what they are living in "The Dark Ages". Those who believed society was about to collapse as a whole were the first domino. Looting, robbing, and rioting began. And public distrust rose to an all-time high. People are afraid to go out. People are afraid to work. With their limited resources, people are doing everything through black market services and goods, which are making them even more sick, because the chaos queen has sent agents to infiltrate and sell sham goods for low prices that is only making people more sick. Being infected directly with the chaos is nothing short of an instant death. There is one day of vomiting blood and being unable to move. If the person falls asleep, they will die in their sleep. And then they will awake as an abomination of necromancy. Anyone who is sick is burnt alive for fear that they're infected with the chaos. The world is completely dark. The bards have stopped playing their entertaining music. Society is ripping each other apart, robbing, looting, stealing, and killing because of the resources getting more and more scarce. And the King is too stunned to act. With differing opinions, the kingdom can barely act. There's even internal distrust. It's the darkest age of history. It is the Dark Ages.

Magic type: Magic manifests as innate abilities and less as general spells. Most magic users only have on ability, but rarely, they can have two or more.

~ Maya Mercy ~
A retired soldier who chose to live as a daycare instructor instead. She witnessed things at war that she wished that she hadn't. So many deaths. Violence for such pointless reasons. She decided that she would dedicate her life to helping others rather than slaughtering them for a king she'd never met. Working in the daycare let her feel as though she was on the path to healing her soul. Then the chaos came. The Dark Ages ruined everything. Society became ravenous. Parents stopped giving her their kids to care for, and Maya knew that some of these kids did not have good parents to take care of them. So she decided that the best thing she could do to help the children in her care would be to use her own experience in battle to go and take down the chaos.
Ability
"Free flame". By using a fire she can create, she can transform it or use it however she wants. Her favourite way to use this is to create a whip of fire that is so hot she can cut straight through weaker opponents, and badly damage stronger ones, though she can use this fire to create realistically anything she likes, or just throw the fire itself. She can only create one item at a time though, meaning she can't make a sword of fire and a whip of fire at the same time.

~ Emilia Lockrein ~
Emilia is a girl who was abandoned as a child. Her town hated her ever since she was little. This is because of her ability. This power was seen as so heinous by the town she grew up that she was tossed out into a forest and told to survive on her own. This has led Emilia to grow up completely emotionally broken while knowing no love. Growing up in the forest on her own, she did not encounter animals to raise her. She just went crazy. Talking to people who weren't there, shadows that only she could see of parents who loved her. She giggles at nothing, and in situations that are too serious. She's a complete loon. When the Dark Ages arrived, Emilia went to go fight against the chaos that caused the Dark Ages because in her mind, if she went and saved everyone, nobody would hate her anymore, and her town would take her back. She thought this plan up while giggling and grabbing and pulling at her hair.
Ability
"Devour". An ability which causes pure magic to come out of Emilia's back side in the form of long cloudy lines with eyes on them, which can jet forward and quite literally devour the head of anybody she uses it on. This power takes more energy to use the more powerful a target it is used on.

~ Dremlin Puff ~
Dremlin is a peculiar case. By all accounts, he is a rather terrible person. Growing up, he always had a liking for doing things that are morally wrong. Stealing, vandalizing, hitting others. He did it all. Nothing anyone did ever fixed him. There was something fundamentally wrong with him. Growing up as the youngest child in a massive family, he started to enjoy being the underdog, or the villain. Inflicting pain on others made him feel that way. Being largely ignored by his family, he found it was the best way to make himself feel vindicated. He finds comfort in the wrong and evil. When the chaos came and caused the Dark Ages, Dremlin was one of the happiest. His quest to reach the source of the chaos is unlike any other. His objective is to reach it because he loves it so much, and will not settle for seeing anything less than the true source. He'll ally with anyone he can to get there, even his enemies. And he is certainly a useful ally to have.
Ability
"Zero". It's an ability that can neutralize the abilities of others, depending on how powerful the other person is. To weaker fodder, this ability can cancel out their abilities completely. To stronger opponents, it is able to muffle it.

~ Faith Maylee ~
Faith has lived a life of utter tragedy. When Faith was five years old, she watched her parents be killed in front of her eyes in a botched robbery. She understood that her parents were dead, but she could not comprehend why the robbers had done it. At their trial, before the robbers were hung, Faith was allowed to speak to them. And even at her young age, she forgave them for what they did, and had expressed her wishes that they go to heaven. At seven years old, she was bullied horribly. Her bullies gave her black eyes, dumped water on her, and left her locked in closets. Throughout all of that, Faith never held a grudge. She would still share food with them, and try to talk to them when they felt down, no matter how much pain that brought her. Because she had to grow up in an orphanage that was overworked, she was often ignored and beat by the nuns there. And she would never complain, or scream that her treatment was unjust. Faith would simply smile, and pray that the people who wronged her would have their circumstances improved. Faith believes that people are only victims of their circumstances. She would rather be true to herself than be hateful, because she believes everyone is born good, and everyone can change if they're shown that they can. When the chaos came and caused the Dark Ages, Faith decided to go and confront it because she believes that it's possible to help and change those responsible for it. She doesn't believe anyone is beyond saving.

Ability

"Sunnier Seal". It's a rather one dimensional ability, but it has its use. It can seal off anyone who is truly evil at heart. Faith has never used this ability, because she doesn't believe it's possible for a person to be truly evil at heart.

~ Kokoro Eto ~
A nurse from a line line of doctors and nurses. She has a horrible temperament and she's seen by others to be very pissy. She always has a scowl on her face, and seems inable to say a single kind word to anyone else. The sudden influx of chaos came when Kokoro was little. The Dark Ages were disastrous for the medicine industry especially. Because of rampant distrust and lower wages being paid, many people started taking cheaper and more dangerous black market medication rather than allowing themselves to be worked on by nurses and doctors. This caused a crash in the medical industry that led Kokoro's family to become poor. Ever since then, she has despised people. She believes society is full of idiots who can't take a good thing for themselves, and that's why she feels hardly any sympathy for anybody anymore. Kokoro also despises the chaos, which is why she has decided to go confront it herself. People and the chaos both caused what happened to her family, but the chaos is easier to stop than wiping out all of society, so she decided she'd go do that instead.

Ability

"Pulse". Coming from a line of healers, Kokoro has the ability to make a healing pulse around her that heals who she choses, or she can directly heal by pausing her pulse and throwing a green fireball like object at the person she wants to heal, though this is more exhausting than just the pulse, though it does heal significantly better.
