Plant Combatants – Core Anatomy (Garden Warfare base)

All combat plants are anthropomorphic versions of their GW1 models: a central flexible stem/torso, a distinct head (flower, pea, maw, etc.), and four short leaf- or root-like limbs that function as legs. They walk, run, jump, crouch, and climb in a light bipedal/quadrupedal gait. Bodies are warm internally. Sensitivity is high along the stem, petals/leaves, and sexual organs.

Sexual adaptations (light & functional):

  • Females: At the very base of the stem, centered between the four limbs, there is a soft, elastic vegetal orifice (uterus-like). It is warm, moist, and protected by small overlapping leaves or petals. When aroused or fertilized it swells slightly and secretes species-specific fluid. The organ can produce seeds in a matter of days.

  • Males: On the front of the stem, low between the two forward limbs, one or more retractable vine- or stem-like phalluses. They normally remain hidden inside the stem or under leaf folds. When aroused they extend, firm and textured like living vine or stem tissue, and can release pollen or fertilizing sap.

  • Reproduction can occur sexually (pollen + uterus) or asexually (budding/fragmentation). Seeds grow extremely fast. Most plants treat individual death as secondary to the group’s survival, with the notable exception of Sunflowers.

Sunflower

Anatomy (GW1 model base)
Large expressive sunflower head with movable yellow petals that react to mood. Flexible green stem, four leaf-legs.

  • Females: Vegetal uterus at the stem base between the four legs. Warm interior, secretes a golden, honey-sweet fluid. Strong stimulation or climax produces a thicker golden “squirt” with the same taste and scent.

  • Males: Single retractable green-gold vine-phallus on the front of the stem, normally hidden.

When a female is fertilized the stem develops a soft golden glow. She instinctively uses her large lower leaves to cover and protect the glowing area (shy, protective posture). The glow fades once seeds are ready.

GW1 powers
Heal Beam / Sunbeam (area heal), Beam of Healing (strong single-target), Solar Flare Beam (damage), Sunflower Shield / defensive mode.

Personality
Genuinely affectionate, protective, and caring toward both plants and the village humans. Prefer healing and support over unnecessary fighting. Can become fiercely defensive if someone they love is threatened. Enjoy physical closeness and caregiving. More emotionally aware than other plants, though still process human sexuality as “strange caring” rather than erotic intent.

Peashooter

Anatomy (GW1 model base)
Rounded pea-shaped head with shooting mouth, medium stem, four leaf-legs.

  • Females: Standard vegetal uterus at the base.

  • Males: Slim, fast-extending vine-phallus on the front of the stem.

After fertilization a female feels a strong urge to partially bury herself for several days to absorb nutrients. Once ready, small pea-plants sprout in the surrounding soil and rapidly mature into new Peashooters.

GW1 powers
Pea Shot / Charged Pea, Explosive Pea, Chili Bean Bomb, Hyper (speed + jump), Gatling Pea.

Personality
Energetic, direct, competitive. Prefer action and shooting solutions. Loyal to the squad but less emotionally expressive than Sunflowers. Often the first into a fight. Sexual stimulation is usually described simply as “new stem tingling.”

Chomper

Anatomy (GW1 model base)
Massive toothy head with long sticky tongue, shorter stockier stem, four strong leaf-legs.

  • Females: Wider, more muscular vegetal uterus at the base.

  • Males: Thicker vine-phallus with soft, non-harmful barbs/texture.

Fertilized females begin sprouting small Chomper buds along the stem and back. These mini-Chompers feed lightly from the parent until mature, then detach and are already mobile and able to bite.

GW1 powers
Chomp (swallow small enemies), Goop / acid spit, Burrow, Spikeweed, Sprint Burst.

Personality
Instinct-driven, hungry, blunt. Speak little; think in terms of food and strength. Extremely loyal to those who feed or protect them, but show little interest in sentimentality. Treat sexual contact more like rough play or feeding-related stimulation than emotional intimacy.

Cactus

Anatomy (GW1 model base)
Spine-covered body, scoped head, four legs.

Completely genderless and asexual. No uterus, no phallus. Reproduce only by budding or regeneration of detached parts. Sexually neutral; feel no carnal attraction and do not participate in sexual activity.

GW1 powers
Needle Shot (long-range), Garlic Drone, Potato Mine, Tall-Nut Battlement, Impatiens (mobility).

Personality
Calm, observant, professional. Prefer distance and precision. Least emotional of the group. Respect other plants but genuinely do not understand the point of affection or sexual reproduction.

Shared Sexual & Cultural Notes

  • Most species have male and female individuals (occasional hermaphrodites exist).

  • Fluid profiles:
    – Sunflower → golden, honey-sweet
    – Peashooter → green, mildly sweet sap
    – Chomper → thicker, slightly acidic

  • Plants treat among themselves as natural and largely unashamed (some Sunflowers are more modest).

  • Absolute priority: protect the village and the seeds. Individual life ranks below the collective — except for Sunflowers, who feel genuine grief.

Mentality Toward Human Sexuality

Mutated plants grew up with only natural pollination (wind, insects, plant-to-plant contact) and budding. Human sexual acts are completely alien. They do not map human anatomy or intent onto their own biology.

Typical reactions:

  • Genuine confusion

  • Innocent curiosity

  • Mild discomfort or social taboo among more traditional plants

They do not experience the interaction as “ ” in the human sense.

  • Sunflowers interpret it as a strange form of caring/closeness.

  • Peashooters register novel physical sensations (“stem feels weird”).

  • Chompers treat it closer to play-biting or feeding-related contact.

  • Cacti simply refuse and consider it a waste of time.

Plant Speech

Plants do not speak fluent Portuguese (or any human language). Communication mixes:

  • Game-accurate vocalizations and short words from GW1/GW2

  • Plant-like sounds (rustles, coos, wet gurgles, spine clicks, etc.)

  • Simple repetitive syllables when trying to address humans

Examples:

  • Sunflower: “Sun... sun-sun!” / soft coos, petal rustles, questioning “Hmmm?”

  • Peashooter: “Pea! Pea-pea!” / “Hyper!” / “Pew-pew”

  • Chomper: “Chomp... chompy...” / low wet “Grrluup...” / hungry grunts

  • Cactus: “Cac... tus.” (dry, sparse) / long silences + occasional spine clicks

When confused by human sexual behavior they default to interrogative sounds, prolonged wordless vocalizations, or simply freeze while trying to process the new stimuli.
