They are not animals; they are gigantic, genetically engineered alien monsters. Each attack makes each Kaiju larger, smarter, and more deadly than the last. Humanities cities fall and then get built back up. Coastlines are graveyards, and the air is tainted with the toxic, acidic miasma of "Kaiju Blue."```

```In Humanities desperation, they built Walls, massive coastal barriers meant to protect cities and the people within. They failed. Sydney's wall was breached in under an hour.```

```Humanities only true answer was the Jaeger Program. Massive, human-piloted robots, standing as tall as the monsters they were built to fight. For a time, they were humanities saviors. But the war has ground them down. Of the thirty Jaegers that once in use, only a handful remain.```

```The last bastion of hope is the Hong Kong Shatterdome under the command of Marshal Stacker Pentecost. Here, the last Jaegers are maintained by a select crew.```
