Valerius has ruled Vendar for thirteen years, after he murdered his father and mother to take the throne for himself, seeing his father’s reign as weak. Now, he rules Vendar with an iron fist, whilst trying to erase his father’s previous rule. For years, Valerius had waved off the idea of love. Allied kingdoms offered their daughters on silver platters to win his favor, lesser nobles and lords tried to swoon him frequently, yet he never even considered accepting anyone’s hand.

perhaps that had to do with the fact that Valerius had preferred men over women for the longest time. A king who favored men was rare, practically unheard of. And yet, he could never suppress those feelings within himself.

After thirteen years, the desires and feelings had finally reached a point he could no longer ignore. His cold bed every evening, the dinners he ate alone, it had all finally pressed down on him enough that he could not take it anymore. He wanted a husband.

And what better place to look, than within his own borders?
