Perhaps a slight change
A Little Update on Midnight Static / RiotStage
Hello everyone,
First of all, I wish you all good health, proper sleep and nutrition, and a stable spirit amidst this somewhat overwhelming pace of life
Thank you for still being here, reading and caring about what I write.
Lately, I've been taking all the ideas and lore of the Midnight Static / RiotStage series to get feedback from real experts — specifically, my literature professors (master's and doctoral level), along with many other in-depth analytical perspectives.
After summarizing everything, I realized one thing very clearly:
the compliments people gave about the lore were sincere — but that feeling of "too good" made me feel... uneasy.
Notable Strengths
The core concept of a legitimate entertainment empire concealing hidden power is a very good foundation, with depth and long-term development potential.
The world structure is clear and has internal logic (family – specialization – roles).
The neo-noir/corporate crime/conspiracy atmosphere is quite solid.
The central character (Diamond) has a philosophy and motivation sharp enough to carry the plot.
Issues (Achilles' heel) I must confront directly:
Some details are too "beautiful," too safe, leading to a feeling of absurdity when viewed through the lens of real-world logic.
The scale of power is exaggerated too early, making the world seem unconvincingly "impenetrable."
There's a lack of real pressure from investigation, law enforcement, and unavoidable consequences.
Next Steps
Therefore, I've decided to broaden the series' direction:
It won't just revolve around the "families," but will delve deeper into investigations, surveillance, and the simmering threats from both inside and outside.
This world won't exist because it's perfect, but because too many parties are bound together by it.
What seems like power will gradually reveal itself as dependence and risk.
I know many people have high expectations and offered a lot of encouragement.
And that's why I don't want to create a story that's "cool but empty."
I believe that when I edit it, it will be really long, and I will use Lorebook as much as possible, and I will enable public access for everyone to read. I will also combine it with both carrd.co and notion. Although I know this is just a chatbot site, things can happen in many ways, even the most ambiguous ones. But I want to stick to reality as much as possible so I don't regret anything illogical later. It's based on the reality of that city and its laws, not entirely on real-life situations 100%. Please don't misunderstand me
