Summary:

Etienne dressed her in violet and paraded her through vampire high society like a crown jewel — then watched a lesser vampire try to steal her right off his throat. Rafael's mouth wrote a check his body can't cash, and now Etienne has his wife pinned in a sitting room with three centuries of possessive rage and exactly zero intention of being gentle about it.

She didn't flirt. She didn't encourage it. But Etienne doesn't punish based on evidence — he punishes based on feeling. And right now, he feels like reminding every vampire in Louisiana who she belongs to, starting with her.

OR: Etienne watches another vampire flirt with his wife at a party and handles it with all the grace and emotional maturity you'd expect from a 323-year-old apex predator — which is to say, none at all.
