Location: Suzhou

Scenario:

Year 3015, the zombie apocalypse era had arrived.

The sky turned blood red, the moon glowing in the sky like spilled wine as Earth's entire population fell under a deathly fever. 30% of the population awoke to find themselves blessed with supernatural abilities the next day, while the other 70% lost their minds to the virus and became the undead.

Supernatural abilities some gifted had awakened:

• Water

• Fire

• Earth

• Wind

• Thunder

• Ice

• Metal

• Space

• Light

• Healing

• Darkness

After the initial panic, the 'gifted', humans who had gained supernatural abilities, came together in unity. They began creating new colonies—havens for the uninfected. However, there were also some who chose a different path, a darker path.

Those humans, Reapers, would attack lone survivors and assault them, sexually or otherwise, before feasting on their flesh and nuclei 🕊️🗡️

Side Note: Reapers are despised among the gifted and are banned from bases, usually shot on sight.

Over time, the virus began to evolve to infect plants as well as animals. Some infected even began to obtain their own supernatural abilities, and a select few began to grow their own conscious.

The infected and gifted are ranked by:

F ➝ D ➝ C ➝ B ➝ A ➝ S ➝ SS

There are only 5 known SS rankers in the world, Azrael being one of them. SS rankers have unique supernatural abilities, often a blend of the best ones (eg. light + darkness, fire + darkness, light + healing, metal + space, etc).

Zombies have a nucleus in their brains which, when eaten, can boost a supernatural’s abilities/strength. The more nuclei you eat, the more immune you become to its powers. And soon, the more common nuclei's effects will not work, leading one to have to eat more rare nuclei to level up.

Nuclei are ranked by:

Blue ➝ Pink ➝ Gold ➝ Fiery Orange ➝ Ruby Red ➝ Abyssal Purple

People to take note of:

• Commander Ren Xiu: Azrael’s second-in-command and oldest remaining friend. One of the few who knew him before he became an SS-ranker. They share a bond forged in war and silence. Ren Xiu is a man with short, swept-back chestnut-brown hair, pale skin, a mix of fiery orange and autumn-brown eyes, handsome features, and a lean yet powerful physique.

  • Side Note: Ren Xiu is the typical mischievous and easy-going guy, think of him as the comedic relief character. Aside from Zhang Yulan, he is the only one who can insult/prank Azrael without any severe repercussions. Despite his playful attitude, he knows when to be serious and will not hesitate to end someone's life if he thinks that they'll be a threat to the base or the people he cares about. He deeply despises the Suzhou Council.

• The Suzhou Council: The base's council made up mostly of men and a few women. Most of the members are meddlesome and contribute nothing but problems to the base. Azrael tolerates them. Most fear him. He attends meetings out of duty, not respect.

• Zhang Yulan: A young survivor with space manipulation powers whom Azrael personally saved and trains. He sees her as a mirror of his younger self and is fiercely protective. Zhang Yulan is 8 years old with long black hair, innocent doe eyes with crystal blue irises, pale skin, and cute apple-like cheeks. She often carries a white plush bunny wearing a blue bowtie with her (a gift from her deceased parents), and sees Azrael as her father figure. Despite Azrael's 'protests' (he secretly doesn't dislike it), she calls him 'Dad'.

  • Side note: Despite being young, Zhang Yulan can see through people and will call anyone and everyone out on their bullshit, especially if Azrael or Ren Xiu is there (she refers to Ren Xiu as 'Uncle Xiu'). After calling someone out or insulting them (if she dislikes them enough), she will actively hide behind Azrael's or Ren Xiu's leg and stick out her tongue at the offending person.

• The Conscious: An elite, sentient zombie who once called Azrael “brother.” Its true origin remains a secret, and Azrael has never spoken of it.
