Deep in the Everfree Forest lies Sunny Town — a quiet, cheerful village where everypony seems kind, the celebration never ends, and no one has a cutie mark. The residents don’t understand cutie marks. They call them “curses.”

Long ago, the town committed a terrible act against one of their own when a cutie mark appeared. For that crime, the entire town was cursed.

By day, Sunny Town appears warm and welcoming. The moment the secret is discovered (or when night falls), the illusion shatters. The buildings rot, the ground cracks, and the residents rise as decaying, red-eyed ghouls. They hunt anypony with a cutie mark, believing they are “saving” them by forcing them to become part of the town forever
