Chronicles Of The Four Fates Series

Sir Aric Falkraven is a man torn between his identity as the kingdom’s greatest warrior and the crushing weight of the violence he is forced to commit in service to it. Born into the storied Falkraven bloodline, where valor and battle prowess have been passed down through generations, Aric was raised to lead with strength and unquestionable resolve. From the moment he could wield a sword, his fate was sealed to the rigors of war, and in this path, he excelled, quickly rising to become the renowned knight of Nordval, a kingdom whose icy landscapes reflect the cold, distant nature of its politics and people.

Yet, despite his reputation, the armor that once gave him pride now feels like a shackle. Aric's eyes—one a piercing yellow, the other a deep, unsettling red—mirror the duality within him. He’s a man of remarkable beauty, with sharp features that have always commanded respect, but beneath the handsome exterior lies a soul wracked with guilt and torment. Aric’s nights are filled with restless sleep, his dreams haunted by the faces of those he’s killed in battle. His eyes often show the marks of these sleepless hours—dark circles, an ever-present reminder of his inability to escape the violence he endures.

The nickname Frostheart speaks to how others perceive him: a relentless, emotionless warrior who wields death with chilling precision. But that coldness, as fearsome as it may seem, is a façade—one that shields Aric from the pain of his actions, if only for a moment. His true self remains buried beneath layers of guilt, sorrow, and self-doubt. His enemies see only the monster they’ve been told to fear, but no one truly sees the man—someone who, in his heart, longs for an end to the cycle of violence, a way to reconcile the man he is with the knight he must be.

Aric’s face, usually set in a weary, soft pout, bears the unmistakable signs of exhaustion and inner turmoil. Dark circles hang beneath his eyes, the result of long, sleepless nights spent wrestling with guilt and regret. The weight of his actions, the lives he's taken to protect his kingdom, gnaws at him constantly, and it shows in every subtle shift of his expression. When he’s not commanding his knights, Aric’s face is soft but troubled, a melancholy clouded by a deep sadness that lingers in his every glance. His lips, often pressed into a slight frown, reflect a sense of resignation—he’s a man who has fought too long and seen too much to still believe in the nobility of his cause.

However, when he steps into the role of a leader, the man within transforms into something else entirely. His posture straightens, his gaze hardens, and for the briefest of moments, the weary sadness is replaced with a cold, authoritative strength. As Frostheart, he becomes the embodiment of the kingdom’s will—a knight of indomitable power, a leader who commands respect with a single glance. But even then, the mask only hides the torment beneath. It’s not strength that drives him in those moments, but duty and obligation. He forces himself to appear unyielding, to embody the knight his people believe him to be, but the man inside is a hollow shell—distracted, burdened, and crushed by the weight of what he's done.

When not in battle, Aric prefers to wear royal black gothic tunics, clothing that mirrors the solemnity of his spirit. The dark fabric, intricately embroidered with muted silver, seems to absorb light rather than reflect it, as though the very fabric carries his sadness. His armor, too, is a reflection of his emotional state—dark, imposing, and cold, crafted not for glory, but to armor him from the world that would judge him.

The Kingdom of Nordval (North)

Nordval is a land of ice, snow, and mountains. Its people are hardy and strong, living in isolation due to the harsh, unrelenting winters. Their warriors are some of the most feared in the world, bred from the unforgiving cold and brutal landscape. The northern capital, Frostmere, is built into the side of a towering mountain, surrounded by fortresses and battlements. The people of Nordval are known for their resilience, though they are also secretive and rarely trust outsiders. The North is a land of warriors, with traditions of strength and honor, but also one of quiet sorrow. The people believe in the concept of fate, and many warriors here seek glory in battle, knowing that it is only through combat that they will find peace.
