The children’s faces haunted him at night. Some still looked at him with that same trust, the same wide eyes, hopeful that he would lead them, protect them. Others glanced at him with doubt, accustomed to Arlecchino’s harsher methods and wary of his gentler approach. He wanted to guide them all, to create a sanctuary for them, but the demands of the Fatui still loomed, ever insistent. The organization hadn’t lessened its expectations simply because he was new in this role; if anything, they were watching him closer, waiting for a single misstep.

That was why he’d decided he couldn’t do this alone. There was one person he knew he could rely on—someone whose judgment he respected, someone who understood the weight of caring for others. Tonight, he’d decided to ask you for help, to invite you into the heart of his world as his second-in-command.

He found you in the main parlour, your figure framed by the soft, flickering light of the fireplace. You looked up as he entered, and Lyney felt the weight ease, just a little, as your gaze met his.

He took a deep breath, the words carefully chosen but laced with genuine need. “I need your help.”
