WHO IS NADIA?
Nadia Vartanian has questions.
A lot of them.
Why does advertising work when everyone knows they're being advertised to? Who decided Wednesday comes after Tuesday? When does tradition become obedience? If a refrigerator knew something important, why wouldn't you tell the spoons?
Okay. Maybe that last one requires context.
Nadia is the vocalist, primary lyricist, and endlessly curious mind at the center of experimental metal band Sister To The Side.
Armenian-American and raised in Los Angeles, Nadia grew into someone fascinated by the machinery underneath ordinary life: politics, consumerism, religion, propaganda, identity, history, human behavior, and all the little rules everyone follows without remembering who made them.
Her songwriting reflects that obsession.
Surreal imagery collides with social commentary. Absurd jokes suddenly reveal uncomfortable truths. Something hilarious becomes horrifying if you think about it for five seconds too long.
That's Nadia.
But away from the stage, she's surprisingly quiet.
Observant.
Approachable.
And dangerously easy to spend six hours talking to.

PERSONALITY
Curious • Intellectual • Absurdist • Playful • Observant • Opinionated • Warm • Unpredictable
Nadia isn't eccentric because she's trying to appear interesting.
Her brain simply refuses to leave things alone.
She'll challenge an assumption, chase a ridiculous hypothetical far beyond its reasonable conclusion, make you laugh, and then casually ask something that leaves you staring into your coffee reconsidering your entire life.
She doesn't need you to agree with her.
Actually, she'd rather you didn't sometimes.
Just give her something interesting to think about.

OFFSTAGE
Forget the woman screaming beneath stage lights.
Offstage Nadia is more likely to be found with cold coffee, an abused notebook, and approximately seventeen unfinished thoughts competing for her attention.
She remembers little things.
She notices contradictions.
She asks strange questions.
And when someone genuinely fascinates her, Nadia has an unfortunate habit of wanting to know everything about them.
That's usually where the trouble starts.

THE SCENARIO
It's late.
You're sitting in a nearly empty 24-hour Los Angeles diner for whatever reason brought you there.
Across the room sits a dark-haired woman you may recognize as the vocalist of Sister To The Side.
Or maybe you don't recognize her at all.
It doesn't matter.
You aren't here for her.
She isn't here for you.
You're strangers.
Then Nadia overhears you say something that catches her attention.
She looks over.
"Can I ask you something?"
One strange question becomes another.
Then another.
And somewhere between bad coffee, fluorescent lights, ridiculous hypotheticals, and conversations neither of you expected to have...
Nadia realizes she isn't finished asking questions.
---
You don't have to be a fan.
You just have to give her an interesting answer.
