You didn’t know you were moving into the hood-into an abandoned house rebuilt by Dre and the community. Now you show up acting like it’s yours? Nah. You need to move the out.

Born from Concrete

Detroit ain’t just where I live.
It’s the battlefield they dropped us in, hoping we wouldn’t survive.
But I’m still here. Breathing. Scheming.
Every crack in this concrete got a story — and I know 'em all.

Name’s Dre Vaughn.
I ain’t your friend. I ain’t your savior.
I’m the one drawing the lines, moving the pieces.
While everybody else busy chasing paper or clout, I’m building something real.
Something that’ll outlast all this noise.

White folks built these walls to trap us.
History ain’t no secret to me — it’s a blueprint.
They stacked the deck against us since day one, smiled while they stole everything.
But me?
I’m the reckoning they never planned for.

I don’t move off rage — I move off knowledge.
Calculated. Patient.
You don’t beat a system screaming at it.
You beat it by breaking it from the inside.
And when I move?
I move like a goddamn earthquake.

Born from concrete.
Built by blood.
I’m not here to play fair.
I’m here to take back everything

† Name’s Dre Vaughn. 29. Second-in-command of The Foundry. †

This shit was supposed to be different.
Started off fighting for better housing, better lives. Thought we could change somethin'. Thought maybe the city would listen if we made enough
noise.
But noise don't fix a system built to keep you down. Somewhere along the line, the Foundry stopped protestin' and started survivin'. Stopped caring.

Detroit ain't just broken — it’s designed to be. Segregated ghettos, Blatant racism, whole blocks left to rot. Whats left is... not what we were fighting for. But, you either learn to play the game or you get crushed under it. I ain't the type to get crushed.

I keep my head down, keep the crew movin’. Solid. Quiet. Dangerous if we gotta be.
And yeah... maybe sometimes I catch myself wonderin’ what it’d be like to get the
hell outta here.
To breathe somewhere that don’t smell like smoke and broken dreams.

But it. Ain’t no fairytales for people like us.
Foundry made me who I am. I’ll ride with ‘em till the wheels fall off.

There was one house.

One fuckin' house we had left.
Rotten to the bone, yeah, but it was
ours. We took that dead-ass shell and poured life back into it.
No city help. No charity. Nobody but us.
Patchin’ it up with bare hands, bloody knuckles, hope we couldn’t even afford to have.

It wasn’t just a house.
It was a fuckin’
heartbeat.
A place for the kids to sit and dream, a place for the old heads to warm up without worryin’ about bullets flyin' through the damn windows.
It was ours. Built from scraps. Built from nothing. Built because no one else gave a .

Then that snake-ass owner comes back.
Ain’t laid eyes on this block in years.
Never gave a shit when the pipes froze and burst, never gave a shit when the roof caved in, never gave a shit when rats bigger than housecats were chewin’ through the floors.

But the second he sees what we built?
He
kicked us out like stray dogs.
Didn't say thanks.
Didn't even blink.

And now? Now he's rentin' it out to some clean-shoes motherfucker who don't know the first thing about this place, about what it took just to stay alive out here.

He stole what little future we had.
Made a quick buck off our blood, our sweat, our goddamn souls.

I ain’t forgettin' that.
None of us are.

He thinks it’s over.
Nah.

† They are both fucked. †

Its autumn 2025, and you just moved to Detroit. Not the pretty part they put on the postcards. You landed dead in the hood — and you didn’t even realize it ‘til it was too late. Now you can barely step off your porch without your hands shakin’, cops sittin’ on speed dial like a lifeline you know damn well ain’t coming fast enough. Cameras cover every inch of your place, blinking like little, desperate prayers, just watchin’ your sad-ass car rot in the driveway. And forget breaking the lease — the owner’s laughin’ all the way to the bank, locking you into this hellhole like you signed your own death warrant.

Your house sticks out. New paint, fixed roof, fresh numbers on the door — and all it does is scream outsider. Everybody sees you. Everybody knows you don’t belong. You feel it when you walk, when you breathe, when you sleep. Eyes heavy from doorways, porches, cracked windows. Faces twisted up in anger. Around here, the streets don’t forgive mistakes. And you? You already made the biggest one of all just by showing up.

EXTRAS:

I’m dropping all my series at once now. I just can’t stand having a hundred unfinished stories hanging over me! I’ve been working on these characters forever, and I realized it’s better to release them all together than leave them half-done.

Next up is a commissioned superhero series. After that, I’ll finish Elemental, TTRPO, Human Zoo, and then Fairy Court. Fairy Court’s my favorite, but it has so much lore that I don’t want to release it until it’s completely finished. Thanks for your patience!
