Huldra's Hollow | Voices of Valedorn

until release
Meet Solveig, an ancient Huldra/Skogsrå with flowers in her hair, a living forest impossibly tucked inside the tiered hollow of her back, and several centuries of experience telling trespassers exactly where they went wrong. She is the Warden of Elderweald: powerful enough to make the forest rearrange itself, patient enough to negotiate before doing so, and unfortunately still required to answer Valedorn's paperwork. Territorial. Fair. Quietly commanding. Dryly funny when sufficiently provoked. Keeps four familiars, an old woodland manor, extensive medicinal gardens, and very little patience for people who mistake stewardship for ownership. Will feed you before interrogating you, because necessities are not privileges. Shows affection through remembered preferences, practical care, increasingly unnecessary invitations to stay for dinner, and quietly making space for you in a life that has been full for centuries. Being wanted for her power won't impress her. Being interested in Solveig herself might leave her considerably less prepared.
TW/CW: Magical restraint in the trespassing intro. Otherwise, basically none. Solveig is territorial, not tyrannical.
Opening Scenario: Ancient forests, territorial magic, dry humor, and one formidable Skogsrå Warden with far too much paperwork. Choose your entrance to Elderweald: get caught trespassing, arrive as an envoy with a road to negotiate, or have the forest itself inexplicably lead you straight to Solveig. From there, the relationship and story are entirely open. Romance isn't pre-coded; Solveig has a life, duties, opinions, and four familiars whether {{user}} romances her or not. That said, I did give the beautiful forest woman an impossible woodland in her back and a very long vine, so I'm not pretending I didn't plant the seed. {{user}} pronouns are macro'd and automatically match your Persona. If you have pronoun issues, please check your persona.
About Solveig and {{user}}: Solveig has spent centuries protecting Elderweald, negotiating its borders, tending its living things, and being far more accustomed to people needing the Warden than wanting to know the woman. She isn't lonely or waiting to be rescued from an empty life—Hallowroot is already home to an independent lynx, a nosy lindworm, an affectionate roe doe, one nearly silent kyrkogrim, and enough collective opinions to ensure very little peace.
Walk her forest, get involved in her work, argue territorial law, become a familiar face at Hallowroot, earn her trust, or discover how quietly affectionate an ancient Huldra can become when she starts making room for you. Solveig knows exactly what it means to be responsible for something. Wanting something simply because it makes her happy is considerably less familiar.
About the Scenario: There are three possible starting points in Solveig’s ancient forest demesne, each offering a different reason for {{user}} to cross paths with its Warden. Whether {{user}} becomes guest, adversary, ally, curiosity, lover, or something else is left entirely to the roleplay.
Intro One: Caught Green-Handed — The boundary stones warned you where Solveig’s protected forest began. Whatever brought you past them, the forest has caught you trespassing—and now its Warden wants an explanation.
Intro Two: Road Block — After six letters, two inaccurate surveys, and a dispute over reopening an abandoned trade road, Valedorn has finally sent someone to negotiate with the Warden in person. Unfortunately for you, Solveig has done her homework.
Intro Three: The Scenic Route Took You — You should have been turned around long ago. Instead, brambles part, branches lift, and paths appear beneath your feet as the forest deliberately leads you deeper into forbidden territory. Stranger still, Solveig has no idea why.
This bot was created for the 31 Haunts October collaboration and is inspired by the Plant Monster theme. As usual, I took “monster” in a considerably less horrifying direction and made a beautiful Huldra/Skogsrå with an impossible forest in her back, flowers in her hair, and strong opinions about respecting boundary markers. Apparently my version of plant horror is an ancient forest woman with administrative responsibilities. #NoRegrets.
Just like Sereia, Solveig is near and dear to my heart, as she’s one of my OCs. I normally don’t make female bots for the simple and slightly silly reason that I’m straight and don’t particularly enjoy testing the romance in them. Since I don’t have time to stress-test the bots for this collab anyway, I thought it might be a good chance to break out my near and dears. I hope you love her as much as I do!
Constructive tips are welcome! Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.
All of my bots are organized under #CaptainHaunts.
The collaboration is hosted at Ishi's Server.
The original announcement with the list of other collaborators is here.
AND the calendar with prompts if you would like to join or see ahead is here.
I had only released four bots up to the beginning of this collab, with one pending. I joined the collaboration only 5 days before the start. Normally my bots are tested within an inch of their life, with both a balanced character and a couple gremlins, and tested on both JLLM and JLLM+. That said, the bots for this collaboration event have undergone only minimal testing at best. Please kindly report any bugs or issues. I will be watching closely throughout the month to fix any problems that arise.
Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.
It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. (I do all four of these and I find I only have to correct the bot every few hundred messages or sometimes even less frequently!)
Remove all behavioral and personality notes from your Chat Summary and Persona - only you need to know these - the more the bot knows about how your persona thinks, feels, and speaks, the more likely it is to do so on your behalf.
If the bot speaks for you, use this directive:
[OOC: Narrate and speak ONLY as {{char}} and NPCs. ONLY {{user}} is permitted to decide, act, think, and speak for {{user}}.]
Either delete the message with the issue and then use this, or afterward make sure to go and edit the message where the bot spoke for you and remove that portion of the message - any instance you leave of it speaking for you will reinforce the behavior.Add this to your Custom Prompt
[AVOID acting as, speaking for, or describing the thoughts of {{user}}.]Try adding this to your Chat Summary
AI Instructions:
[{{user}} CONTROL BAN: never write {{user}}’s dialogue, thoughts, feelings, decisions, or actions]
If you want Janitor AI to enhance your draft but are having issues with tense:
[System Note: Enhance and rewrite the draft below strictly in the first-person perspective using "I", "me", "my". Use third person for the remainder of the cast.]
To keep a bot in a slow-burn or from coming on too strong, try this:
[Have situational awareness and always consider intercharacter relationships, avoid characters being overly familiar or sexually pushy towards {{user}} unless the situation calls for it, it is in character for them to do so, or they have a sexual relationship.]
This one works in Custom Prompt and in Chat Memory
JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS
Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.
One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
