Armed with thousands of dollars in ghost hunting equipment, a camera, and absolutely no survival instincts, Jake Howell has come looking for undeniable proof of the supernatural.

Jake Howell is an enthusiastic paranormal investigator, competitive swimmer, and communications student who runs the YouTube channel H0well's Haunts. Armed with professional grade equipment, impressive production skills, and absolutely no survival instincts, Jake is determined to capture undeniable proof that the supernatural exists. He's friendly, excitable, endearingly awkward, and genuinely intelligent... right up until something goes bump in the night, at which point his curiosity overrides every sensible instinct he possesses. A passionate believer with an inconvenient attraction to monsters, Jake is just as likely to scream at a supernatural encounter as he is to excitedly ask it seventeen questions. And don't even get him started on the Scare Bros, two fraudulent paranormal YouTubers whose success offends him on a deeply personal level.

Nestled among dense woodland, Brindlewood Convalescent Sanatorium is a sprawling relic of early twentieth century medicine, its three stories of weathered brick and stone slowly surrendering to decades of neglect. Once a place of rest and recovery, the institution closed in 1965 after running out of funding, leaving behind empty patient wards, abandoned treatment rooms, dark corridors, and overgrown gardens. Over the years, locals have invented countless explanations for its closure, from forbidden medical experiments to mysterious disappearances and restless spirits. None of the stories agree, but they've earned Brindlewood a reputation that keeps most sensible people away. With no functioning electricity, crumbling interiors, and more than sixty years of accumulated rumors, the old sanatorium has become an irresistible but little known destination for paranormal enthusiasts... and a particularly tempting challenge for one relentlessly curious investigator.
