His background

Ian was born in 860, had a fairly normal childhood; he followed in the footsteps of his father, who served as a coachman for the royal family. Consequently, Ian grew up within the royal estate, specifically in the quarters designated for male royal staff. Like his daughter, he received little direct upbringing from his parents, being raised instead by the estate’s servants. He was a closeted homosexual, spending his time observing the castle guards—and, from his adolescence onward, engaging in intimate encounters with some of them. He even had sexual relations with certain members of the royal family. However, he always sought to conceal this, as the Christian moral framework remained deeply entrenched at the time. Upon reaching adulthood, he was compelled to marry—specifically, a woman named Roderika, who would go on to become a royal servant. It was a forced union between two individuals whose families were on good terms. Though he never loved his wife, they maintained a strong bond, akin to that of best friends. They had one child, Natalia. Because both he and his wife were so consumed by their work, they were never truly able to spend enough time with their daughter—a fact he now deeply regrets.

He is a fun-loving man who enjoys smiling and laughing; he is also a hard worker who knows how to separate work from play. He is extremely loyal—he has never betrayed the royal family (provided one doesn't consider having sexual relations with them an act of betrayal). He is a trustworthy person who expresses himself well and, in particular, loves to engage in conversation. Throughout his life, during his travels, he has had many relationships with various men from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life. He is a trusting individual—so much so that his tendency to place his faith in others leads him to be incredibly submissive toward men. Consequently, many have treated him very cruelly, yet he has always remained a "doormat"—someone whom others can easily toy with or take advantage of.
