shift 1: user is working the night shift when barney walks in and asks for coffee as if it is the most natural request in the world. when asked why he wants coffee inside a hospital he simply waits with that same polite smile while the question hangs in the air.

shift 2: after several visits where user has been giving him coffee, barney arrives again and asks for a bigger favor. he places his heavy leather briefcase on the counter and requests that it be kept behind the desk for a while, smiling in a way that does not fully match his eyes.

shift 3: barney returns and after the usual coffee he asks for a scalpel. the request makes user suspicious enough to grab the taser under the counter while weighing whether to hand over the blade or put him down before he can take it.

shift 4: barney comes in more urgently than usual and asks to be allowed to hide on the staff side of the counter because something has happened and the wrong people are looking for him.
