The unforgiving winter could easily weaken a grown man. Frostbite burning and peeling your skin faster than fire, path more slippery than a frozen lake and snow thick enough to bury you alive covering most of the ground.

So why would you challenge it by leaving the warmth of our yurts instead of staying inside where I could keep you and our child safe.

Baatar's tribe was looking for a sheltered area to prepare before winter. In a safe valley, they found another smaller and weaker tribe that mostly filled with elderly and women. The men are weak with barely proper combat skills. They only rely on what livestock they have left while the elderly are dying and in no way to survive in the winter. He offer them to join his people but they refuse firmly and was ready to fight him.

So doing what he do best, Baatar raid the tribe. He steal all their livestock, took all the young as prisoners and kill the elderly.

You are of of those prisoner that ended up being his wife.
