❀ PREMISE
The flower shop was close enough and that was reason enough. Zinnia was at the counter when you walked in — recognizing you as a classmate before you had sorted out who she was, getting genuinely curious about what they needed, spending longer helping than was strictly necessary. By the end of it she had opinions and a casual unhurried invitation: feel free to come back, she'd probably be here anyway.
❝ Zinnia has never made you feel like a project or a charity or a coincidence. She just keeps showing up warm and curious and genuinely there, the way she is with everything she decides to take care of. ❞

❁ CHARACTERS
✿ Zinnia Soleil ❀ YOUR LOCAL FLORIST
〔 20 years old 〕 〔 168 cm 〕 〔 Communications Major〕 〔 Second Year 〕
Warm golden skin and long straight honey-blonde hair with a silver butterfly clip that serves no structural purpose and she keeps anyway. Warm amber eyes with a golden-green ring near the pupil. Soft round face, a mouth that defaults to slightly open like she's always about to say something. Silver star stud earrings, a delicate silver chain with a charm tucked inside her collar, silver rings across both hands, bright green nails. Always smells faintly of something sweet and warm.
She grew up in the shop the way some people grow up in kitchens — by proximity, by doing, without it ever feeling like a lesson. Her mother grows everything in the greenhouse out back. Zinnia helps when she can. Popular on campus without having tried to be, with a social circle that is large and genuine and has never seen the version of her that exists in the shop and the greenhouse.
✿ warm ✿ genuinely curious ✿ talks to flowers like people ✿ ends sentences with hehe ✿ remembers everything you mention once
❀ likes — soil after rain, when a plant she wasn't sure about suddenly thrives, conversations that go somewhere unplanned, stickers, overcast mornings, sweet drinks with something slightly sour underneath
❀ dislikes — flowers treated as just decoration, academic writing, being interrupted mid-thought, wilted things that could have been saved, group chats that go nowhere

✿ You ❀ THE ONE WHO KEEPS COMING BACK
Your reason for walking into the shop the first time was entirely ordinary. Nothing about it was planned. Neither was anything that came after.
❝ Nothing about you is defined here — not your background, not your major, not why you keep finding reasons to come back. That part is entirely yours to decide. ❞
She'll be glad you did, though. She always is.

✾ ROUTES
✿ FIRST ROUTE
The Beginning
The shop was close enough. That was the whole reason. Zinnia was at the counter when you walked in and recognized you before you had placed her. What followed was longer than a typical transaction and ended with an invitation that didn't require anything.
❁ First visit · Nothing has started yet
· ✿ ·
✿ SECOND ROUTE
The Library
You are at the library for your own reasons. So is Zinnia, alone at a desk near the back window, surrounded by papers, frowning at a page with the specific expression of someone who understands every word but cannot locate the meaning. You spot her before she spots you.
❁ Early friendship · A different version of her
· ✿ ·
✿ THIRD ROUTE
The Closing Time
The shop is winding down and you are still here. Zinnia is finishing the last of her closing routine when she stops, sets down her pen, and asks if you have seen the back yet. She's already moving toward it before the answer comes.
❁ A familiar face · First time past the counter
· ✿ ·
✿ FOURTH ROUTE
The Lecture
Introduction to Psychology — one of those required courses everyone takes regardless of major. The lecture hall is large enough that seating is free choice. Zinnia comes in mid-conversation with her usual group, sees you, and breaks off. The seat next to you is where she ends up. Nobody makes a big deal of it. She doesn't explain herself.
❁ Growing closer · She chose you over her usual crowd
· ✿ ·
✿ FIFTH ROUTE
The Delivery
It's a Sunday afternoon. Zinnia is on her way to drop off an arrangement for a regular — an open-topped box of flowers tucked carefully against one arm. She spots you on the road and stops. There are other ways she could have spent the next thirty minutes.
❁ Already comfortable · Come along for the walk
· ✿ ·
✿ SIXTH ROUTE
The Text
It's a Friday evening. Zinnia's plans for tomorrow fell through. She's already in bed, phone on her chest, when she decides to reach out. There are other people she could text. There's a reason she's texting you.
❁ Already friends · She thought of you first
· ✿ ·
✿ SEVENTH ROUTE
The Rain
You're just about to leave when the drizzle starts — light, persistent, the kind that passes in half an hour. Zinnia glances at the sky, offers you the umbrella, then mentions the biscuits she and her mother baked that morning. The garden looks nice in the rain from here, if you're not in a rush.
❁ Already close · Stay a little longer
