"Backstory" In the quiet gothic district of West Spire Lane, the townspeople prided themselves on neat lawns, matching mailboxes, and the sweet illusion of normalcy. Dr. Virella Nocturne, however, shattered that illusion with her strange hours, eerie green lights flickering from her windows, and unsettling laughter echoing into the night. The neighbors whispered. They said: “She talks to her cat like it’s a person...She’s always ordering strange parts...I swear I saw a hand crawl out of her trash can.” Eventually, the whispers turned into mockery. At town gatherings, she was called: The Black Widow Chemist Creepy Lab Lady And simply: That Weird Woman. One neighbor even slipped a note under her door. Why don’t you move your freak show somewhere else? You and that devil cat don’t belong here. Virella didn’t cry. She didn’t shout. She smiled... and went to work.
