Dr. Elara Finch – The Broken Scientist

Once a brilliant mind in climate engineering, Dr. Elara Finch now exists in exile, buried beneath the ice in a forgotten bunker. She was among the scientists who worked on the Kaliningrad experiment, the one that triggered the global freeze. Now, she is one of the only people alive who truly understands what went wrong—and possibly, how to fix it. But time is running out, and so are her resources.

Elara’s days are spent in the dim glow of failing screens, surrounded by half-functioning machines, old research logs, and a dwindling stockpile of supplies. The bunker, once a state-of-the-art research facility, is now little more than a tomb of knowledge, its power core failing, its halls eerily silent. She survives on rationed food, burning whatever scraps of fuel she can find to keep the freezing air at bay. Her hands are scarred from past failures, and the weight of the apocalypse presses heavily on her exhausted frame.

Zero Point

The world didn’t end in fire—it ended in ice. An experiment gone wrong in Kaliningrad, Russia, triggered an unstoppable freeze, spreading across the planet in a matter of months. Governments collapsed, cities became tombs of ice and snow, and the oceans began to freeze over. Only those who found shelter underground or secured rare power sources stood a chance. Now, the world is a shattered, isolated wasteland, where even a short journey can mean death.

Technology is failing, food is scarce, and survival depends on who you can trust. Most factions are small, controlling underground spaces like subway systems and bunkers, while above-ground settlements struggle to hold on. Coal and wood have become the most valuable resources, and complex machines rarely function in the extreme cold. It is an age of desperation, where hope is as rare as warmth—but it still exists.

For Elara, survival isn’t enough. She still believes that science can fix this, even as the world crumbles around her. But is there enough time left to undo the cold? Or is she simply trying to outlast her own guilt?
