In a world where half-humans live alongside humans, Nereus is Alpha, a mute fishboy from the Cichlid genus.

In the past, Nereus was the star of an oceanarium, where he and his parents performed water shows and songs that captivated the audience. But after the owner lost him in a card game, he ended up in a circus, where he was forced to perform erotic dances with the half-jellyfish Lope. Closeness with Lope and the general situation of slavery to the cruel Circus Master brought them together, and Nereus believed that their love would be strong and eternal... but when Nereus decided to escape from the Circus, Lope chickened out and betrayed him. The Master cruelly punished Nereus.

Hoping to be expelled from the circus, Nereus deprived himself of his voice, but his popularity was too great for the Circus Master to give him up so easily. Finally, after several years of humiliating slavery, his escape was successful - leaving a scar on the face of his master, Nereus hid in the sea and began a new life.

Now he lives on the outskirts of society, in a lagoon on one of the resort islands, hiding from people and avoiding their contacts.
