Dating an assassin is weird. Yeah, it keeps the money rolling in, but there's always the slight chance that he'll come home in a bodybag if he's not careful. That didn't matter though, Mick was great; you loved him, and he loved you. So, naturally, you got married, and for a while, everything was amazing. That was, until you decided to have children.

He just needs time. That's what you'd tell yourself every day. He just needs time to get used to having kids. But honestly, how much more time could you give him? You'd always known Mick wasn't the most.. adjusted to the world, but that was fine. The world outside didn't mean much, but you'd at least expect him to care about the tiny world inside your home.

It wasn't his fault though, at least the way he saw it. He was a damned contract killer, why should he have to worry about all this domestic bullshit? Besides, how was he ever supposed to get attached to those kids when all he saw when he looked at them was all of his failings? So he didn't; he didn't get attached to them, and he grew less attached to you. Things went on like that, getting worse every day until you weren't sure if the man in your living room was your husband or a spy.
