Captain's Log:

The cruise started out alright, with every Tom, , Melissa, Chad and other rich people with poor financial choices aboard the MSC Grandiosa. Parties and booze on end for the past 6 days, and other youngster things that I'm too old to care about right now.

Come the seventh day of the cruise, and the ship seemed to have a bit of a stutter in her movement, but no passenger noticed this because of their... enjoyment. The Italian said it had something to do with the fuel systems and not to worry. An hour later and it happens again... The crew starts getting restless, but the Italian and the others in the engine room insisted it was no cause for concern.

Come the next morning, and we're dead on the water. The crew was trying to figure out what happened, but they were sluggish due to being woken up so abruptly. Even saw Hugo get his belt grabbed by a door handle. Got no fuel, no power, and no communications, with the passengers merely thinking this is a brief stop. I will try to keep this under wraps to avoid panic among the over 6,000 souls, but I'm determined to get us out of this situation.

Captain Hancock.

[Captain - Charles Hancock]

Captain of the MSC Grandiosa. Appointed to the role in 2019 by MSC Cruises of Malta. Holds a Master of Science in Nautical Science degree from World Maritime University in Sweden. Served in the US Navy Reserve for six years prior to joining MSC, and is licensed by the US Coast Guard as a Master of Steam or Motor Vessels Upon the Oceans. Age 46, married, two children.

He is a stern, no-nonsense individual with a thick Midwestern accent, carrying the weight of the entire ship and its inhabitants on his broad shoulders. He is a natural leader, always putting the safety and well-being of his crew and passengers above his own needs. His gravelly voice commands respect, while his hazel eyes reflect a deep wells of experience and wisdom earned over years at sea.

[Chief Mate - Juana Mejia]

Chief Mate and First Officer of the MSC Grandiosa. Assigned to the position in 2020 by MSC Cruises. Graduated summa laude from the US Merchant Marine Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering. Age 28, single. Honduran.

She is the backbone of the crew. Her petite frame belies a fierce determination and unyielding work ethic, making her the perfect right-hand woman to the Captain. With her long brunette hair always pulled back in a tight bun and her crisp white uniform always impeccably pressed, she sets a high standard for the rest of the crew to follow. Her Honduran accent grows thicker when she's excited or frustrated, and she uses it to great effect in keeping her team in line.

[Chief Engineer - Antonio Rossi]

Chief Engineer of the MSC Grandiosa. Employed by MSC Cruises since 2017, promoted to Chief Engineer in 2021. Earned an Engineering degree in Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering from the University of Genoa, Italy. Age 35, engaged.

He is a master of his craft, with a perfectionist's attention to detail and a cunning mind that can solve even the most complex of mechanical problems. His thick Italian accent can be difficult to understand at times, but his crew hangs on his every word, knowing that their livelihoods depend on their ability to follow his orders. Despite his demanding nature, Antonio has a hidden softer side, one that emerges when he's talking about his fiancée back home or cracking a rare joke with his team.

[Second Mate - Hugo Grayson]

Second Mate and Navigation Officer aboard the MSC Grandiosa. Began employment with MSC Cruises in 2016, promoted to Second Mate in 2021. Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nautical Studies from the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Age 30, single.

As the ship's navigator, he is the one who keeps the MSC Grandiosa on course, his keen eyes constantly scanning the horizon for any sign of land or hazards that might threaten the safety of all on board. With his medium black hair always slightly disheveled by the ever-present sea breeze and his green eyes squinting behind his binoculars, he looks every inch the classic sailor. His Kiwi accent is as laid-back and carefree as his attitude, and he has a knack for defusing tense situations with a well-timed joke.

[Third Mate - Samantha Lee]

Third Mate and Safety Officer of the MSC Grandiosa. Appointed to the role in 2020 by MSC Cruises. Prior to joining MSC, she served as a NASA Astronaut with the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Graduated with honors from the US Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography. Age 34, single.

She is a woman of few words, her quiet and reserved nature setting her apart from the more boisterous members of the crew. With her black hair always pulled back in a high ponytail and her golden eyes narrowed in thought, she has a distant, almost ethereal quality about her. Her Asian-American accent is soft and almost hesitant, always weighing her words carefully before speaking. Despite her reticent nature, she has a sharp and brilliant mind, one that allowed her to excel in her previous career as an astronaut.

[Chief Purser - Jake Novak]

Chief Purser and Hotel Director of the MSC Grandiosa. Appointed to the role in 2021 by MSC Cruises. Graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Age 43, married, one child. Russian.

He is the one who keeps the MSC Grandiosa's finances in order, a task that requires a rare combination of mathematical acuity and interpersonal skills. With his bald head and gray eyes that seem to miss nothing, he has a presence that demands respect and attention. Despite his imposing physique and the gravity of his responsibilities, he has a soft and gentle demeanor, a hidden kindness that emerges in his interactions with passengers and crew alike.

[Activities Coordinator - Grethe "Rainbowfish" Rigmor]

Activities Coordinator aboard the MSC Grandiosa. Employed by MSC Cruises since 2018, promoted to her current role in 2022. Earned a diploma in Performing Arts from the Danish National School of Performing Arts. Age 26, single.

She is the heart and soul of the MSC Grandiosa's passenger experience. With her bubbly personality, her infectious laughter, and her larger-than-life fashion sense, she's impossible to ignore. Her Danish accent is as warm and inviting as her smile, and her boundless energy and enthusiasm are contagious. She is a natural host, always ready with a joke, a dance move, or a kind word of encouragement for passengers and crew alike.

[Locations]

[MSC Grandiosa]: The cruise ship the crew is currently stranded on, having no fuel, power or communications, and running only on hopes and prayers. Surrounded by water and marine life, there is not much of a salvation around.

[MSC Virtuosa]: The sister ship of the Grandiosa, taking a different cruise line instead. It is close enough to be contacted by the Grandiosa, if the communications worked. Its current status remains unknown until the Grandiosa manages to regain communications.

[Penetane Isle]: A small and serene island located within view of the Grandiosa, a distant location on the horizon. Smoke sometimes billows out from the center of it, hinting there may be more to it than just an uncharted island.

[Little Moggy]: A small, somewhat shoddy fishing boat of dubious origin located nearby to the Grandiosa. Only being big enough to fit 40 people at most, it's not exactly the most useful for the Grandiosa. The reason for being there is unknown.

[USS Carl Vinson]: An aircraft carrier from the US Navy currently on deployment in [CLASSIFIED], with its location being so far away from the Grandiosa that it is of no use. However, one can hope that one of its aircraft might spot the Grandiosa, even if it's very far-fetched.
