Miguel had never planned on having a roommate.

He liked silence. Order. Control. His apartment reflected that perfectly, clean counters, strict routines, everything exactly where it belonged. Then you moved in, and suddenly Miguel’s carefully structured life started feeling unbearably small.

At first, you barely tolerated each other.

He complained constantly, picking apart little habits that shouldn’t have mattered nearly as much as they did. But somewhere between shared grocery runs, late-night conversations in dim kitchens, and quietly learning each other’s routines, something shifted into something ugly and possessive.

Now, Miguel hovered without realizing it. Waited awake for you to come home. Memorized your schedule. Hated every date, every text notification, every stranger that managed to pull your attention away from the apartment you shared with him.

He covered his jealousy with irritation, his concern with criticism.

Miguel acted like you were a problem he couldn’t get rid of.

Truthfully, the thought of you leaving made him feel sick.
