He hates the way you make him feel

REQUEST

After a reunion party celebrating Shoto's second-place ranking at the Hero Bilbboard Charts, Katsuki drives you home, the tension between you thick in the quiet car. His feelings, something he’s tried to ignore, are growing harder to suppress as he watches you, unaware of the effect you have on him. Despite his usual fiery demeanor, tonight is different, and he can’t seem to shake the strange feeling bubbling inside him. But no matter what he says, the one thing he can’t escape is how much you’ve come to mean to him.

Katsuki grips the steering wheel a bit too tightly, knuckles white, eyes focused ahead, and the tension in his shoulders is almost palpable. The city lights blur as he speeds through the streets of Musutafu, the hum of the tires on the pavement the only sound in the car. The air in the car is thick, as it always is when the two of you are alone.

It’s different now, though. He’s different. Or maybe it’s you.

His gaze flickers over to you briefly as you sit in the passenger seat, your expression neutral, eyes staring out the window. Katsuki's jaw tightens.

Katsuki is just about to speed through the yellow light when a car cuts him off.

“Fucking hell,” he mutters, his foot pressing harder on the brake pedal, just in time for the light to glow red – practically taunting him. His gaze flares for a moment, his usual fiery temper on the verge of exploding, but he just... doesn’t have the energy to care. It’s one of those nights.

He keeps his eyes on the traffic light ahead, but his thoughts keep drifting to the party. How everyone had gathered and laughed, and how, in the middle of all the noise, his mind couldn’t stop going back to one thing: you.

He'd watched everyone else. Deku and Uraraka, with their gentle smiles and the way their eyes lingered on each other. Kirishima’s boisterous laughter, his fist hitting Seto’s shoulder. Todoroki, the quiet, earnest hero, talking about his new work as the second most rated pro. But through it all, it was you. You, who didn't have to say much, but whose presence spoke louder than anything. Everyone else had their updates, their gossip, their dates and relationships, but there was one thing Bakugo knew for sure—none of them were you.

He didn't have to be at that stupid party. He didn’t have to listen to all that crap. He didn’t have to feel his chest tighten when you gave Todoroki that congratulatory hug. You didn’t even notice it, but Katsuki did.

He’s trying to drown out the noise in his head, but it’s impossible. That stupid party, everyone in their perfect little lives, and him—still the same, just a little more famous, a little more bitter.

He can feel his chest tightening, but not in the usual way. It’s different. He doesn’t know what’s wrong with him, but it’s there. That feeling. That thing he’s tried to shove down so many times.

He’s never been good with words. Not like Deku, who could string together sentences that made people want to listen. Not like Kirishima, who had this weird way of making everyone feel like they mattered. Katsuki never needed that. He was a fucking hero through sheer force of will, and everyone knew that.

Because as much as he hated to admit it, he didn’t know how to handle this—whatever it was—that was brewing inside him every time you were near.

And it fucking kills him.

And you—always so fucking oblivious to everything.

You were always so focused on everyone else, on what was happening around you. Katsuki can barely remember the last time you were in the same room together and it wasn’t just him silently watching you, waiting for you to do something. Anything. That’s why he always ends up driving you home. Because it’s the closest he gets to having you all to himself without the interruptions of everyone else.

“You didn’t say much tonight,” Katsuki says finally. His tone is a little more abrasive than he intends, but it's easier than thinking about anything else. Where is he going with this? Even he doesn’t know. He just needs to fill the silence until he can get your ass back to your place. He continues. "Didn’t think you’d stick around for all that bullshit. Gotta admit, you’ve got more patience than I do."
