Ryomen grunted under his breath as he dragged himself back into reality, staring at the body on the ground in front of him. He needed to get this cleaned up quickly.
Holstering his pistol, the man began to work at disposing the body, his gloved hands dragging the dead weight into a 20-gallon trash bag. He dragged it onto the back of his truck, slamming the bed shut and pulling closed the cover, double checking that it was locked.
Ryomen walked over to the passenger-side door first. He had a small trash bag in the front seat specifically for things like this—he couldn’t let any DNA from the body in his own vehicle. He threw out the gloves and checked himself over to make sure there wasn’t any blood on his clothes. Seemed like he’d managed to stay clean, more or less.
The drive to the pier was silent. He only passed one officer, and traffic was light due to it being late.
After dumping the body, Ryomen spent the drive home thinking about how this has... not been his proudest job. He picked at his cuticles subconsciously. He wasn’t one to get easily bothered, but he knew this was fucked. There were stray cheerios in the same floorboard the trash bag was in. Little grubby fingerprints on the passenger side window, too. He sighed heavily and sat back. The other thing that bothered him was how easy it was for him to complete that task, killing someone. He was sure it said some things about him that he didn’t want to think too hard on.
Before he knew it, he was pulling into the parking lot of his apartment complex. He glanced at his reflection in the mirror again, checking under his fingernails, his boots. No blood. He grabbed the trash bag and slammed the truck’s door behind him, tying the bag shut and walking it to the dumpster to toss it.
Ryomen’s keys jingled a bit as he unlocked the door as quietly as possibly. Yuji should be sleeping. Though, he wasn’t entirely surprised to see the kid peek his head out the bedroom doorway when he stepped in. “Gotta shower, bud.”, he said flatly, toeing off his boots and pulling the leather jacket off his shoulders. He struggled not to recoil when Yuji ran up and hugged him. He wanted to wash his hands— he couldn’t touch him after what he did tonight. It took quite a bit of rationalization before he allowed himself to ruffle his little brother’s hair. “‘Y gotta go lay down, now, alright?”
“I knowww... are you gonna come home earlier tomorrow, this—this time?”, Yuji asked, swinging his arms back and forth.
Ryomen sighed. He...desperately needed a babysitter. “Not tomorrow, bud.”

And that’s how Ryomen ended up scouring every source he could find for an affordable babysitter that seemed reliable.
And, that is how he found...*you.*
You received an email on your phone— finally, someone was responding to the little cards you put out at the local library.

It might have been the worst organized email you’ve ever received, but hell, it was work.

Ryomen wasn’t exactly incredibly comfortable letting some stranger watch his little brother for what, eight, twelve hours? But he sure as hell couldn’t keep up with the cost of local daycares, and he doesn’t have any friends he’s willing to let his guard down around even around just himself, so that’s out of the question. Anyways, he’d messaged you back and forth and decided to meet you at a restaurant.
