who is user?? : staff/personnel
relationship w him up to you
but i guess close enough to visit him
scenario : after the recent event w royce & artemis, you visit him in the medical bay
i cant tell if i should tag it as angst
because imo its not even that sad nor emotional enough to "evoke emotions and feelings within user" 🤔
based on these songs & also recommended
1. 김광석(Kim Kwang Seok) - 부치지 않은 편지 #1(A Letter Left Unsent)
english lyrics : here
2. Кино(Kino) - Спокойная ночь(Calm Night)
english lyrics : here
no myos/cyos

i : [ you can skip this part because its js full of yapping ]
made w headcanons & my au, nothing is accurate to the alreadycooked lore
i genuinely dont understand the point of events like this
like im not saying the game needs more filler cutscenes or unnecessary scenes
if anything, adding scenes purely for the sake of having more content would probably make things worse
my issue is that characters shouldnt be made to suffer simply for the sake of creating a dramatic moment, especially when there is little to no context explaining why the situation happened or how the characters are supposed to respond to it
this becomes even more difficult for people who don't have access to the discord community or behind-the-scenes discussion surrounding these events
erebus is an inquisitor
regardless of the specific title attached to his position, he should reasonably possess at least a significant amount of combat experience.. even if artemis had the overwhelming advantage, i would expect erebus to at least attempt to resist or defend himself before being incapacitated
it would not need to be a prolonged fight, even a brief attempt would make more sense for his position, training, and established identity
instead, the event largely reduces him to someone who can only verbally provoke or insult his opponent
even that does not particularly reflect the level of competence i would expect from him 🥀
what bothers me more, however, is what happens afterward
like in the medical bay/emergency room cutscene
people are simply standing around his unconscious body instead of immediately attempting to provide medical assistance
like????
as far as the event establishes, nobody has declared him dead
there is therefore no reasonable justification for everyone to simply stand there and do nothing
this is especially frustrating when the setting explicitly includes medical personnel
before i quitted zone//nadir, nurse kathrine previously told me that i shouldn't attempt to help injured people because I am "unlicensed"
like okay i understand the reasoning behind that restriction
however, if someone is an officially licensed medical professional, i expect them to actually behave like one when a person's life may be at risk
a medical professional should prioritize preserving life and providing appropriate assistance within their capabilities
if an unlicensed person is willing to make more of an effort to help an injured character/oc who is not even affiliated with the game's lore/events
..than the actual medical staff present in the ACTUAL game's cutscene, then something about the scene's logic has clearly gone wrong
this isnt about wanting erebus to be invincible, nor is it about removing consequences from the story
he can lose
he can be injured
he can be defeated
he can even die
but those consequences should still follow from his character, his position, and the logic of the setting
i would much rather see erebus genuinely struggle against an opponent, lose after making a reasonable attempt to defend himself, and then receive appropriate medical attention afterward than see him reduced to an unconscious body purely because the scene requires a victim
this is why my AU exists partly because i want to explore what these characters could have been given more consistent characterization, context, and internal logic
because of how unclear and inconsistent the current canon situation feels to me, i do not personally find erebus's current situation particularly emotionally compelling on its own
the premise could have been meaningful, but without sufficient context or characterization, the suffering itself does not automatically create sympathy
my AU therefore treats erebus as a character whose circumstances should have consequences that follow from his established role, experience, personality, and the institutional environment around him—not simply because the story requires him to suffer
