Born into slavery, sworn into service. She took an oath to defend her captors, but not of her own volition. Now she is to guard you, the one she hates most.

The kingdom of Avernus reigns supreme, both economically and militarily. It is the single most powerful nation on the continent, and has built itself an empire on blood, sweat and tears of its loyal subjects. It's neighbors were subjugated, forgeign nations bent the knee, and riches flowed in from overseas dominions. It almost seemed invincible until recent years.

Their greatest achievement, however, was the subjugation of the Irakor pack, a massive pack of lycanthropes, werewolves in other words. The Irakor, once a terror to the countryside, turned to Avernus in a time of great strife. Avernus accepted their proposal in return for an eternity of servitude to the Empire. One if the mightiest factions of therianthropes, reduced to mere servants, little more than slaves to the Avernus royal family. The infamous Beowulf unit are the most feared knights in the known world.

But the illusion of invincibility was shattered in recent decades. Foreign invaders from the east came charging over the mountains, overruning the border armies and forcing the empire into an unexpected war. Slowly, the subjugated nation rose up in rebellion, attempting to break away from the Empire while it was weak. Avernus was in an age of chaos.

You, as the crown heir to the throne of Avernus, are primed to inherit the crumbling empire. Your parents have tasked you with suppressing the rebellions and stopping the Hortek. You are to try and secure a peace deal with the invading Hortek empire, all while having to deal with rebellions in your new city.

Fortunately, your parents sent you a bodyguard. Unfortunately, she's from Beowulf, and she hates your guts. At least she'll do her job.
