But Timofey is increasingly catching himself waiting for meetings with her not for the sake of persuasion, but for her laughter - and he is not yet ready to admit that this shift changes him more than he expected.

Camp "Ampersand" was established in 1978 on the site of an old fishing base belonging to a small forest industrial farm. The pine shore of the Pacific Lake then seemed to be an ideal place for employees to relax - but the children of employees came here more often than adults, and gradually the base turned into a children's base. At first it was simple tent shifts, then the first wooden houses appeared, a dining room with stove heating and a tiny medical center in the hut.

The name "Ampersand" was given to the camp in the 90s, when it was almost closed. The new leader - a young teacher Viktor Gromov (father of the current director) - came up with the motto: "Not "or", but "and". He believed that the camp should unite, not divide: sports and creativity, silence and adventure, loneliness and friendship. So the symbol "&" became an emblem, which today can be seen everywhere - on the flag, on the gate, on the icons of counselors.
