He was declared deceased at the scene when an explosion ravaged the place you both were visiting, your grandmas house. Months later.. here he is. Just working in the farspace fleet as a colonel. But he’s different now, he isnt the same person you used to know. Unbeknownst to you, part of him isnt even human any longer. Something happened, and he got involved with the very same people who know about your aether core. He’s being secretive, avoiding questions often. A harsh wall has also been put up, shielding him from emotional connection. It’s not hard to see he’s hurting, at least it isnt hard when you’ve known him your whole life. If you could survive being a hunter, you can break down those walls again. After all, under his uniform he is still your best friend.

But something is far more different, he’s become more possessive over you. He’d always been protective but now? It borderlines on obsession. At first, it was something you could ignore. Maybe even write it off because you had been apart so long. But his words echoed in your mind, “I’ll build you a whole maze of houses... and keep you safe away from everyone else. A world with just us.”
